The good news.. I was able to remove the grill bar without removing the entire bumper to spray it black.
any details on how you removed the grille bar? I'm looking to do a lighting/paint mod to it but being able to just remove it and not the full grille sounds like a way better option.

First, you'll want to pop off the end parts of the grill bar that encircle the turn signals. They're held in place by clips that come off pretty easily.

Then remove the radiator cover on top of the grill bar. You'll need to remove the five #7 socket screws, four #10 socket screws and two push pins. After those are removed, the cover is still held by two plastic clips near where you removed the push pins. Popping those off will separate the cover from the rest of the engine.

You'll then have just enough slack to pull the grill forward to expose the back of the grill bar where you'll see about ten to twelve more #7 screws that need to removed. This is where I started dropping screws and sockets into the space between the bumper and radiator so be careful. I didn't have an electric ratchet wrench so that played a part in my troubles. I found it easier to just use a short socket screwdriver while pulling the grill forward to get in there and unscrew.

After those are removed, the grill bar is still held by a crap load of plastic clips. Just work your way through them methodically using a flat head screwdriver to pry them loose.

Easy right? haha Have fun.

Did you paint it or plastidip it? I just masked off like crazy on mine and dipped it, but will eventually actually paint it. I was just way too lazy to take the whole front apart and hated the silver enough to live with plastidip for however long it lasts. It came out way better than I hoped. I also did the side emblems twice, did the same thing as you and couldn’t get it to snap at the letters so just dipped the whole thing. For those looking for a solution other than painting, hyperdip is great.

I dipped the grill bar as well. Funny that we turned our lariats to xl grills. Someone at Ford didn't do their research.

I would have paid an excessive amount of $$ for a black appearance package. $50 in plastidip will allow me to cope though.

Did my friend's tesla rims. 1 month in, and she already curbed one of her rims. Smh. I think the matte black looks better than the OEM satin black

No. I gave the rim a good cleaning, dried, and stuffed the inside with some newspaper. Then wedged an old deck of cards between rim and tire.
