Smoke Plasti Dip for Emblems

Hi folks,

I wanted to share what I did to de-chrome my tailgate emblem. I wanted a better contrast then just black plasti dip and I stumbled upon the smoke at Menards. It did a great job and matches well with Alto Blue. I took the emblem off but you could leave it on. I probably did 10 coats, but I could have stopped at about 5-7. Each coat obviously gets everything a little darker. I’ll have to take a picture with it on the truck. It’s been on since last May and it’s held up extremely well.

I did this to a bike frame once, all good until you hit something against it and it scratches, then starts to peel.

My biggest concern was car washes and it’s seemed to pass that test. Here’s a few pics with it on the truck. It’s dirty but you get the idea.

I decided to decommission my FORD emblems with nice easily removable deals

Nice! That’s the great thing about temporary solutions, you can always change them later if you’re feeling froggy.
