I think you are right, although it is not clear to me how to do that. I tried prying on it a little bit but it did not budge and I don't want to break it. I suspect there is a locking tab that I'm not seeing.You may need to remove the face, like these Aptiv/Delphi style.

A wire was chafed from the factory and I wanted to replace it. Turned out the copper inside was not touched so I simply sealed over the damaged part and didn't have to remove the wire from the connector.This is the HS2-CAN by the fuse box?
What did you end up accessing it for?
