So since most of us are charging the 12volt battery to fend off DeepSleep mode, technically we are driving a small “p” plug in hybrid. Can we apply for federal tax credit? lol.

I've been maintaining batteries in vehicles for about 20 years for increased battery life. I guess all of mine are pICE.

I've never had a battery issue in 3 Mavericks so far.
To me, the problem seems to be dependent on driving habits. Occasional short trips won't give any charging system a proper chance. I'm sure there are exceptions.

In most states, you would be eligible for higher fees to offset the gas tax you no longer pay. So, I'd just let it go under the radar.

Correct in the summer I dont have to worry about 12 volt much. Maybe once in summer I charge the 12 volt. BUT in winter my driving changes and do short trips. Then i am charging the 12 volt every 2 or 3 weeks.

Charge 12 volt Get tax break good one.

...not to mention that lead acid batteries have less capacity in cold weather, and starting a a cold engine requires more current than in milder temperatures.

But, of course that doesn't count with the Hybrid, since it doesn't use the 12V battery to start.

I already pay a tax for owning a Hybrid in Ark. A cheap ICE car that gets roughly the same mileage is not taxed.

It''s nothing but a virtue-signaling spite tax on Hybrid owners. You decide who put this tax in place.
