In nevada, we have a constitutional 2/3 requirement in the legislature to impose a tax.

the legislature tried to continue a tax with built in sunset by a simple majority!

Our Supreme Court didn't go for that

In the early to mid 90s, the NV legislature, which had long dealt with the 60 day limit on payment with huge per diem payments afterwards, was pushing for annual sessions.

By the time the dust settled, the result was instead that any payment, including per diem, past 90 (?) days was prohibited. Furthermore, any bill that doesn't pass a floor vote in at least one chamber by day 90 (?) is dead letter!

All this complaining and bitching and not one single person will do anything. Not even write a letter, send an email or make a call or even vote against it.
If they/them do this just remember who let it happen.
I wrote both of my local reps (house and senate) telling them I supported the road usage charge. Not sure if it will hit their radar with all the flood the zone that is going on. I am also trying to find out who killed the bill that was going to implement it back in 2023-2024 but I have a feeling I know what party it was.

everything should be free, and no one should pay any taxes. All of the things we use and enjoy such as roads, parks, police, fire department, schools, military, etc. magically appear with no costs to anyone, so why are they TAXING us using these things as an excuse?! They are just getting rich. Have you EVER met a city council member who isn't at least a multimillionaire 50 times over?

The simple solution is the pay us cash for clunkers program.
Pay the state money to get mothballed gas hogs that struggle to get 10 mpgs from when owners were paid to junk a clunk, and watch those fuel revenues go up like a rocket.

Maybe WA state passes a no car can get over 15 mpg's statute.
Perhaps "Mandate a V8".

How about using some of the billions for setting up charging stations that gat vandalized repeatedly and use it for road improvements instead.

I don't know if the companies setting up charging stations would want to pay for road improvements instead of building their business. doesn't seem like a money-maker. Why don't the gas companies pay for road improvements instead of putting up another gas station to sell gas?

Completely different funding.
The government provides funding for the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations through programs like the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program and the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program, which was part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These programs allocate billions of dollars to support the establishment of a national EV charging network.
That's why.

You will likely be granted a tax exemption as part of the fair taxation deferral program.
It's anticipated to address those who suffer from TLFD (Turbocharged Lead Foot Disorder), as this class of drivers typically use considerably more fuel than average, and thus already pay more than their fair share in gasoline taxes.
