It's still a truck. I'm just looking for the paint to not fall off while looking at it. I have friends who have done the ceramic thing and it looks great. That's all I need. If I was looking for max protection, I would have the entire body sprayed.
Ceramic is too expensive for what it does. The silicon dioxide products are a much better value. You can apply them wet or dry with a microfiber cloth. No special tools or training required. Mine still looks good after four months, but I’ll be reapplying pretty soon.

Ive noticed on our 2020 escape that there is a thin spot of paint on the one of the rear doors where you can see through it certain light but not unless you look for it. Otherwise there are no chips from driving.

I would think in Mexico they have a little more latitude than we have in the US because of environmental laws so they should be able to produce a good paint job. Years ago when I was looking at Mazda 626s I could tell the Japanese ones from the ones produced here from about 5 feet. And the paint jobs here were nowhere near as good.

There's paint and then there's paint...

Have had my cactus grey maverick almost a year, well in dec a year...16k miles...NO paint issues...of course I don't tailgate trucks, rigs, trailers...and when I see them, I pass them swiftly to avoid road debris...no complaints here.
I’m the same. I consciously stay far away from traffic in front of me even in town but even farther the on expressway.

Sorry to hear about the paint chips. Pretty crazy that a fluorescent light shard could do that--that is some thin glass to begin with. Maybe the metal end caps are guilty.

I've got 9000+ miles. no chips anywhere. The Hot Pepper Red does cost extra for multi-stage paint and clear coat, but so does Alto Blue. I restore cars, and (sadly) have had issues many times with paint chipping even on really expensive paint jobs. It can be caused by poor prep, paint formulation, improper primer, post-paint baking/setup, and the weather conditions when paint is applied/curing. Unlike a local body shop, you would think in a major auto brand factory these are extremely controlled variables. Maybe not? Or maybe pushing production numbers beyond forecast has found its weak link in the manufacturing process.
I'm at 10,000 miles with my HPR hybrid XLT and have no paint issues (yet)...

Right at 15,000 miles here. I'm not a diehard "Ford guy", and we have several late model and domestic vehicles for comparison reference.

That said, I think the Iconic Silver paint has held up extremely well on my Maverick. I even ventured to Florida during the "love bug" season which coated the frontal area with bug remains. All cleaned up and I've yet to find a chip. Definitely better than our Honda and a Mazda we own. Not to mention the Maverick has been driven much more.

No exotic ceramic treatment either, just my trusty standby -Collinite No. 845 Insulator Wax

And I have owed a Hot Pepper Red Mav since Feb 22. Ungaraged. Driven through ice, bugs. Had a hail storm in June, dropping marble-sized hail that put two dozen small depressions in my factory hard tri-fold bed cover.

But NOT A SINGLE PAINT CHIP anywhere on my truck to date.

Now I understand what people are talking about when they say the paint on the Mavericks is crap. I had an overhead fluorescent light that I was changing the bulb and after I changed it it fell out and broke a couple feet from my Maverick. A few of the glass pieces ricocheted and hit my Maverick and chipped the paint in a number of spots. Ridiculous! I have more paint chips on the Maverick in the few months I have owned it than than the 11 years I owned my previous vehicle.
Just keep it waxed. It is a cheap ass vehicle! I look for underbody rust issues next.

I have not read every single reply, there seems to be quite a few members happy with the condition of their paint. I would like to see the numbers of how many Mavs have "bad" paint compared to the total production count.
