You can get a towing hitch without the towing package. Are you sure you ordered the "towing package"? Because as other's have said, that isn't available on the Hybrid. It sounds like both you and your dealer were not on the same page with any of this.
The salesman pulled up the order sheet. I did just order the hitch, not the tow package. I never did get the confirmation number.

Why would Ford randomly cancel one order out of 10s of thousands?? Your order didn't get cancelled. The dealer screwed up and either didn't actually enter the order in the system, ordered the wrong truck, or is hoping to sell the truck out from under you. There's been a few of these sort of threads going around.

My wife and I ordered a Maverick XL Hybrid with a towing package on 8/1/2021. We were pretty excited. We had bought new vehicles in the past, but had never ordered one. I had read about the protocol to order and after a few days, I contacted the salesman. I asked him about it. He assured me it was done correctly. After a couple of weeks, I stopped in again and asked if they had a confirmation number. The salesman said they had and referred me to his boss. The manager again assured me it had been ordered would keep In touch. I stopped in October and was informed by the manager he had good news. The truck was scheduled to be build the week of November 22. The first week in December, the salesman called and said our truck was in. Fantastic. We went to the dealership and waited while the truck was being cleaned. They brought it around and it wasn't our truck. It was an XLT with the Echo boost. They apologized. On January 4th I stopped in the dealership. The salesman was out, so I left a message inquiring if there had been any news. An hour later, the salesman called and said Ford cancelled the order without explanation. He said I could get a truck without the Hybrid option or order the Hybrid in when the 2023 season starts. I was extremely disappointed. I never did get a conformation or any correspondence directly from Ford.
Did you ever get emails directly from Ford about the status of your order, or was communication about the build entirely through your dealer?

As numerous others stated - Ford did not cancel your order. The dealer either is stealing it from you or they did not place your order before the deadline.

I would say they did the former - to get themselves a Hybrid.

And to be clear - I have a very constrained build - Hybrid, hitch, spray in liner.

I am actually anticipating that my order gets bumped to MY23 (I just hope for price protection) because I fear that Ford won't be able to build enough Hybrids. I've seen this play out with the Bronco.

They are now building and delivering MY22 Broncos while there are still MY21 Broncos to be built and delivered.

All that said - Ford has not canceled ANY Bronco orders. They have advised reservation holders of the wait, or the option to reconfigure a MY22 Bronco, but they did not cancel the orders.

I would expect that any MY22 Hybrid order that will not get built as a MY22 will get some sort of correspondence closer to July when MY23 order banks open.

Did you call Ford to see if you even had an order?

Everything I read about Bronco delays was related to the 4 door with Hard top. Was there anything else? I've seen multiple 4 doors with soft top (my dealer even had 2) and 2 doors around my little town since at least early Spring.

Hard top was the issue that everyone heard about it. 2 Doors were barely produced in MY21. 2.7EB is seriously constrained. Badlands, Wildtrak, FE, or anything with a High or LUX package is constrained. The SAS package was a constraint at some point.

Basically you can order a Base or a Big Bend soft top and stand a good chance of getting it picked up for production.

It was just the hitch, my bad.

You should call Ford Maverick Marketing. They can look for your sales order. They can tell you what was ordered and when. If it was delivered, all of that. Get details. The type (Ecoboost or hybrid, color, options). Make sure that jives with what you ordered (not with what the dealer said).

Ford: 800-334-4375.

Do you have any correspondence? An email? A signed agreement/DORA?

It sounds like BS. You happened to come by and they tell you it's built? You say you went to pick it up and it was not what you ordered and they apologized? WTH?

naaaawwwweee

Do a little homework, see what was ordered. Raise some stink. And then come back and let us know how it goes, please

There's not enough information here to form a decent opinion about what happened.

As others have said, two plausible explanations are that your order was not properly submitted or that they made a mistake in describing your vehicle.

The "order sheet" your salesman just showed you could be a DORA, a buyer's order, or something else entirely. It could be a document that was created back in August when you ordered or it could be something the salesman just generated to cover himself.

It would help if you had your original ordering paperwork and a copy of the "order sheet" the salesman showed you. Also, do you remember if the salesman took a copy of your driver license?

Yours is not the first post with exact same problem. Go to your dealer and ask to see the correspondence, if they cannot or will not something is rotten.
I had the same concerns, so I called Ford directly (800-392-3673), while they could provide no details on the build (ordered 8/26), they at least confirmed the order was placed.
