I originally bought an Ibolt 17 mm double ball socket adjustable mount to use in my Muslogy dash tray, but the 3M tape didn't stick well enough and came loose over time.
I decided to cut a scrap of plywood to fit in the plastic dash tray, as a zero cost fix. I added a couple thin strips of foam packing material to the ends to help it grip in better. Then covered the wood with black cotton from an old T Shirt. I used 4 wood screws to secure the mount. Will swap to black pan heads when I have time to find them at home, as I have limited hardware at work. I probably can use a 1/4" shorter barrel too, as the 3.75" one is a bit too long.
I like many features the Garmin has over app based maps. So I prefer to use both. This mounts it very secure, but can pop it off quickly if needed. There is a thin felt strip between the GPS and tray to prevent rattles. Will secure and reroute the cord at home. Here's a few pics:
