Oil question/warranty

I know I can search and maybe find the answer if I can get through the nonsensical arguments, but I’m going to be lazy and just ask.

Oil
MotorCraft full Synthetic is it worth it? Or am I better off with a Mobile 1 or Castrol ….?

Oil Filter.
I plan on using the MotorCraft oil filter for my Maverick. Or maybe a suggestion from someone.
I am hoping to buy the filter from a dealership as a way to track my oil changes, does anyone think this is a good method to battle any warranty issues.

Does anyone have a set scheduled maintenance chart. Also a list of torques for lugs and other various parts would be fantastic.

First thing i would get a lose leaf notebook to record everything you do to the truck and when.get some oil stickers for your windshield to record when the next oil change is due.without starting a fuss buy the brand name oil filter and oil you feel comfortable with.I doubt you will see any difference in oil brands but filters there probably is slight differences.AND THE ARGUMENTS BEGIN

Yes I am sure there will be an argument.
I am pretty good at keeping my auto records. I save my receipts for what I do personally.
I do like the Ford app. I was able to enter what service I preformed and even save the receipt. I do wish I could set a reminder for next oil change. And what are the recommended services on the app.

Yes, full synthetic is worth it in an ecoboost. The turbocharger is both oil and watercooled, but it still gets extremely hot and synthetic oil will survive that heat far better.

Premium 91+ is also worth it if you tow or just want to actually get the 250hp/277lb-ft your engine is rated at. Ford didn't rate the engine on 87, but they do have an asterisk on the official specfications that says it is rated with premium fuel.

Yep. $40-45ish for full synthetic and filter, have to collect and transport old oil to recycling center, and splash guard is a pita. Plus the Maverick is far too low to the ground to change the oil without ramps or a jack.

I'm paying $40-50 extra to not have to deal with all that. For anyone has FX4 or Tremor with the skid plates, I can definitely find better things to do with an hour.

I get it that some people have the time and others might even find oil changes fun. That's cool.

I dont have time to change my own oil, but the dealer reassured me that I COULD and not void my warranty if I keep receipts for the oil I buy from the parts store. Seems like word of mouth won’t do it but any record of oil and filter purchases is fine. This also goes for changing oil and other services at your favorite local mechanic instead of the dealer, just keep your invoices/receipts and follow the service interval laid out in the manual based on usage condition

I use the ford pass points I got when I purchased the truck on Full synthetic and filter, both Motorcraft. Once warranty is over I'll probably switch to Mobil 1 or something similar.

I've had a few bad experiences with dealerships not changing oil filters, leaving loose lug nuts, etc so I do all my own simple maintenance now.

It doesn't save a lot of money (especially $/hr) but it does give me piece of mind that the correct oil and filter are installed, and everything is torqued. I'm not trusting my truck to a hungover minimum wage tech.

Icing on the cake is that I actually enjoy doing it. I've got jack stands, air tools and torque drivers. Takes me about 45 minutes to change oil/filter and rotate tires. I like to turn on "Breakfast with the Beatles" on a Sunday morning and have at it.

I enjoy doing it and it doesn’t take too much time. With the fx4 the skid plate wasn’t a problem. I did notice that there was one of the bolts missing. So this has turned me off from a dealership oil change even more. I don’t think the bolt just vibrated out as I was driving. And if the factory missed one. Then the dealership should have replaced it for my first “free” oil change.

I have found a lot comparing other major brands. Just nothing to great on this.

i also have ALL maintinence during the warrenty period done at the dealership as well as oil changes after warr expires. that way God forbid theres some kind of engine failure or other big issue theres no wiggle room for the dealer or Ford coparate to question whether or not the vehicle was properly maintained.

this saved me big bucks with my previous '14 escape titainium when the dealer advised me that my rotors were toast AND i needed new pads & a bunch of other brake system components. i pointed out that they had NEVER said anything about abnormal brake wear B4 and that the Escape had recently been in their shop for another issue and they had said the brakes were fine.

the dealer ended up splitting the co$t 50/50 with me. i went for this as i was a few yrs out of warr and after personally inspecting the rotors & pads agreed that the work had to be done. the only leverage i had was the fact that the dealership was the ONLY entity to EVER service the vehicle and this was exactly the kind of thing their so called vehicle inspections were supposed to catch B4 it got this bad. they admitted that someone dropped the ball and stepped up somewhat. no matter how much i bitched they wouldnt cover the whole thing so i went for the 50% off offer.

Change mine myself and will likely go with Mobile 1.
Especially the first one. I like to see the inside of the filter, checking for metal shavings. Just a habit I have from my motorcycling years. And yes, I have a lot of spare time.

Mobil1 is very good and costs a lot less than some of the boutique oils like royal purple, amsoil etc. I'm not saying that stuff is bad, I'm saying that Mobil1 is very good and far cheaper.

As far as filters go if there is one that is larger capacity that fits it could be valuable because it's more filter media surface area. But I definitely would not see any value in a $18-20+ K&N or Amsoil filter. You need to change the filter every 5k to 7k miles. It's tiny.
