3,000 then refill with full synthetic, smart move. I did that. I do 5k intervals now starting at 10,000 miles.
Techron at 3,000 total waste of money. If your truck doesn’t sit no fuel additives are needed.

If it’s sits for months and you’re using ethanol fuel you may have issues. I use Star Tron in my non ethanol gas cans for my generator. I treat one ounce per six gallons per year. I use the fuel up after two years. I poor it in my 2004 Esxape.

Now ! My 2004 V-6 Ford Escspe has 228,000 miles, runs perfect, NO Techron no fuel additives of any kind,
Ever.
Cherokee, what is this Star Tron you speak of? Never heard of it. Thanks.

Given direct injection does not spray FUEL on the intake valves at all, why in the dickens would a fuel additive such as PEA make a donuts difference in deposits on the intake valves. PEA would not come in contact with the valves just like gasoline skips that step on direct injected engines.
The buildup is caused by gases from blowby flowing through the PCV system carrying some oil droplets that tend to accumulate on the 'backside' of the intake valve. Some believe catch cans will eliminate the buildup of deposits. I don't know how PEA that does not get to the crankcase except for that bit carried past the rings during 'blowby' can affect oil deposits, but someone will surely explain.
Shorter oil change intervals will lessen the amount of fuel diluted into the oil, and perhaps lessen the formation of oil particles being carried out via the PCV system as the oil will be less diluted by fuel.

My Corvette buddies think differently.....
Did your Corvette buddies get a borescope inspection of their engines' intake valves before and after a Techron treatment?

I have done borescope inspections on port and direct injected vehicles. IMO, as long as you run Top-Tier fuel, anything else other than maybe fuel stabilizer (if you really don't drive a lot) is largely just marketing to separate you from your money.

The easiest preventative measure to prevent (or at least slow down) carbon buildup on DI engines is to keep those cylinder head temperatures up. AKA, whomp on the throttle every once in a while.

Agree, but Techron is a fuel system cleaner. Fuel pumps, fuel lines, and most importantly the fuel injectors.

Sure, they probably are not dirty - especially if you use a $35 bottle of Techron every 6 months.

New XLT purchased in January 2025. Only 3,000 miles. Got an oil change and went with synthetic.

Also, added a bottle of Techron, as I do with all of my cars after every oil change.

Let the hate begin.....you don't need synthetic, you're wasting money, that oil change was too soon.

The dealer was a joy to work with too.

Happy Sunday.
lol, that was not to soon, I changed ours at 750 miles to get rid of all that stuff floating around in that motor and to get rid of the small oil filter...Good job on changing that oil and Syn yes indeed

3000 miles seems like twice as long as you should go before the first oil change. I'm so mad at you right now.

You done good, Brother Robert.
3,000 miles is a good first oil change point.
The Techron is not going to hurt anything and should help in keeping the injectors clean. You done good. Keep it up and your truck will stay as fresh as a sprig of Acacia wood.

That is the same thing I would do too. I use synthetic oil as well and do oil and filter every 5 thousand. I live in the country and do mostly road miles. No problem at 30,000. Runs like a scalded dog. Love the 2.0 ecoboost.

If you add the Techron yourself, might want to add it 500 miles or so before oil change. Any microscopic crud that washes into oil will be flushed during the oil change.
I had not thought of that. I use top-tier in my Maverick, but the wife and daughter prefer to get their gas from the pumps at the local mini-market and grocery store. I started adding techron when I change their oil. Guess I need to change my plan.

Ippolito, you did right. But I would have suggested an oil sample To see how oil break in doing in new engine.
PS - I a ”traveling man” too.

I have never had an oil analysis done.
That said, it probably doesn't hurt to have one done. If it were me I would start with the first oil change. Maybe again at 30,000 miles or 50,000. They're generally less than $40.
Make sure to follow the procedures below.
Especially #4 Cleaning and taking the sample from midstream.
