I’ve never seen a cheap K&N, they are all pricey. I have seen one cut open and while not as good as a Mobil 1 oil filter, I would take one over a Moticraft filter any day.

I agree there are better oils, my goal is to use factory oil until the warranty expires. Whatever it is, it could be spermwhale oil from money dick.

I do that to minimize any kvetching from warranty repairs and servicing.

mince the warranty is gone, there will be assloads of performance data showing wear vs performance vs price and Purple is where I will likely go.

but again, my goal is to match/exceed in warranty bounds everything during warranty.

hope that makes sense.

And BTW, I think this is one reason, barring one case of #3 in a 14 car collision all my vehicles go 300k plus miles
Your warranty won’t be impacted by using better oil (full synthetic) or a better filter. I usually put 175k to 200k on my cars, so I want the best oil and filter from my first oil change. Running your car on what the dealership uses for the first 60k is a flawed strategy for the long term performance and reliability of any vehicle.

I have never, as expressed before, had a vehicle go less than 300k with the single exception of a cougar lost in an accident. No offense if I maintain my current maintenance practices

I understand severe service will change things, but this is what Escape does ...
- oil monitor will require a change every 10,000 miles or 12 months, which ever comes first. .
- the hybrid interval will be 10,000 engine miles, so lots of EV can stretch it to 15-16K miles.

My dealer does a free oil change at 5K miles. My second oil change was 15, 600 miles later, as required by the oil monitor. I do used oil analysis. No issues seen on this change.
So if you have 10k engine mile, that will be the of up to 15k vehicle miles? Where did you get this number that 33% of your vehicle miles will be just the electric motor?

And I will run full synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter.

I never told you to do otherwise. You however decided to tell me my practices were bad.

Trusting a dealership or service advisor to do what is best for your vehicle is the issue. There are dealerships out there still encouraging 3,000 mile oil change. One might recommend full syn and another syn blend. Not a fan of Motorcraft filters.

LOL . I love going down the rabbit hole, i thought thats what the internet was made for?
Nope the internet is for porn, we just define porn differently.

In 1964, Justice Potter Stewart tried to explain "hard-core" pornography, or what is obscene, by saying, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced... ut I know it when I see it ..."

Think that’s bad, first time I took organic at a US institution I was under treatment with a drug that suppresses the ability to form new memories.

I had to literally derive mechanisms from first principles for every exam. It was interesting time. Still got an an A and topped out the ACS exam (American Chemical Society).

Quantum Chemistry was where things finally started making real sense to me. But that’s all Wittgenstein’s ladder now.

FYI, I noticed a lot of maintenance plans only provide synthetic blend so make sure if you want full synthetic then insist on it. I hate that the hybrid is not 5 quarts! Don't like those odd quart numbers, Ford should have made 6 quarts instead. Who using a partial quart???
