I bet that was handy.
Yep it was great. Was just mentioning it as you said you only used it to unlock the door then reached in to pop the trunk. Also, and I think this is still the case, hitting 7 and 9 together lock the doors.

Old technology makes way for new technology. Banking on the premise that most everyone keeps their cell phone with them at all times these days, you can still lock your keys in the truck by using the FordPass app to lock your truck when you exit. I know some will say" but you have to have cell service for the app to work". Well, hide a key blank that will manually unlock the door somewhere on the vehicle. They still make magnetic hide-a-key boxes , which would still be a good idea even with a keypad, after all, the keypad won't work either if your battery happens to go dead.

It won't drop the tailgate, but hitting the 3/4 after unlocking the Maverick unlocks all the doors, which I thought was pretty handy. I knew about the last 2 buttons locking the truck when pressed simultaneously, but I only discovered the 3/4 all unlock a month or so ago.

I remember keeping a door key in my wallet for my no keypad '92 Ranger for just in case.

I use mine all the time when biking. I think it's dumb that they keep changing packages. It makes it tough for consumers to know if they've gotten everything they wanted.

I have a 23 lariat with the keypad. At first, I didn't think I'd ever use it because I could lock and unlock the doors with the dog in my pocket and just grab the handle. Now that I'm paddling a fair amount, I don't have to bring my key or phone and can just use the keypad. I'm using it way more than I thought I would

I still do that for my '92 Chevy, '98 Chevy, and '11 Dodge.

I use it all the time.

I leave keys in my vehicles when parked at home. When I remote start in the winter it locks the doors. Beep boop and I'm in.

The vehicles with keyless stuff if I'm with the wife we just have one key in her purse. If I go out to the car I just let myself in without chasing her down to get the key. I'm glad I got a '23 with the keypad now.

@fordvideoguy mentioned last night that Ford is looking for feedback on the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad removal from the Maverick.

Personally, I think it is a mistake. I have used the function multiple times with the Escape, especially when kayaking or hiking. It allows me to leave not only my keys, but the keys of my envious non-Ford friends locked and safe without having to worry about losing them. And as a $50 add-on, its not like Ford is breaking the bank by adding it. I even made sure it was included on the Maverick Lariat before I even placed an order.

The Keypad is quintessential Ford as I remember my grandparents having on their Taurus from forever ago. As a teen, I was constantly sent to go get something out of their vehicle by using the keypad. The Drive even accused GM of copying the tech. To not offer it at all on the Maverick, even on the Lariat, is a shame and Ford should reverse their course.

What are your thoughts, knowing that @Ford Motor Company will likely be reading this feedback? Should Ford keep/offer the SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad, even if it raised the price by $50-$100?

Best Feature Ever

whatever pencil neck bean counter that thought this was a good idea should be shown the door immediately! i have used this feature more times than i can count. it represents a competitive advantage to my mind and i just dont get deleting it. if there's some kind of constraint on the supply side then just start making them yourself, it wont cost Ford anything because they can just pass along the co$t to us. are there any aftermarket options?

I can fully understand why Ford/Lincoln/Mercury owners love this feature. It's such a treat to securely "lock your keys in the car" without having to actually worry about it thanks to the keypad. This is my first vehicle with it and let me tell you, it's been put to good use. If going to the beach or wanting to go grab something out of the car with the keys in the house, all I have to do is just punch in my code and I'm good to go. And to lock it up, just hold the bottom two buttons. It's wonderful. I think it's really dumb for Ford to get rid of such an agile and well-revered feature that keeps their owners happy and secure. It's a Ford trademark as well as for Lincoln and former Mercury. I'm hoping this won't be a termination of this feature on all Ford products. If they go that route, they might as well shoot themselves in the foot.

Locking keys in the vehicle is a dangerous, lazy habit if done routinely. If you have push button start and it's within range it's trivial to get into the truck and start it, and drive away. If you don't have push button it's even worse because you're probably putting the key somewhere easy to grab and then insert into the ignition.

Not that I expect a single person doing this to change their behavior, but here's a source anyway discussing the risk and ease of theft. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...h-keys-left-inside-on-the-rise-301731304.html

My truck has the code because it's a Lariat. It's ugly and unnecessary because my cell phone or key is always in my pocket. I've used the keypad a few times because it is faster than unlocking my phone, opening Fordpass, and holding unlock.I had a 92 Taurus SHO a long time ago and it had the keypad and I literally never used it. Why? Because you still need the key to drive and leaving the key inside is a risk.

I wouldn't pay for it. I have another Maverick being built this month and it doesn't have it.

Buy it from the parts dept. The pad can be stuck anywhere after a Ford dealer programs it, Bronco people like to stick it inside the gas door.

I use it about once a week.

I love that it has been unchanged for 25 years.

But, you can add a battery powered one that looks identical pretty cheaply.

I think the battery one I had lasted darn near 10 years on the original battery.

Talk about moving BACKWARDS.... geez.

You should know you can also get into almost any car with a blood pressure cuff. But who wants to carry that around???

Stick with the tried and true, neat and tidy, always there when you need it, keypad.

IF IT AIN't BROKE, DON't FIX IT.
