And if you think it’s unethical, help me speak for you, or at least inspire you to also contact Ford Corporate. I think it’s shady as shit, and I will NOT do business with dealerships that indulge in such sketchy practices. Nobody should.
You're preaching to the choir.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but it's obvious that FoMoCo doesn't care what you and I think. They make the "rules" and they're holding virtually all of the cards.

Your cause is noble, but your efforts will be futile.

Seems to be 5k-15k here in central IL. I just called a dealer in Clinton about a hybrid Lariat. I knew it was gonna be bad when they used words like “rare”. They have it listed on eBay to “let the market dictate the price”. Absurd, a brand new vehicle.
A dealer close to me has it listed as a special in the lot. Stripped down Lariat hybrid. MSRP 27,500. Plus dealer bonus + 10,000. PT Barnum would be envious.

I've seen 5-10k in my area. Ridiculous.

I've been looking around for one since mine hasn't been scheduled yet (with my luck, I'm guessing I'll roll over to MY23) so I'm checking out options just to see. If a reasonable dealer has one, I might do it but I'm totally not counting on it.

The sudden spike in gas prices will also drive up the price of all hybrid and electric vehicles. The unavailability of the Maverick combined with that is a double whammy. In general, people are bad a math. They will spend $10k more on a car to save $2000 on gas. Yes, it feels better at the pump to pay less, but paying an insane markup deletes all the "savings" at the pump and puts one seriously upside down in the event the vehicle is totaled, stolen, etc. if there is a lien on it. Paying MSRP is bad enough these days, no reason to compound the problem.
There's a fascinating field of study called behavioral economics. It helps explain why people do dumb things with their money. I'm a little weird because I may as well be not Spock, who is half human, but his father, who is all Vulcan when it comes to money. I can look at the salesperson who's trying to make an emotional appeal to me and tell them to cut it out. They always get stunned into silence for a few seconds when I call them on it.

It's not personal, <salesperson>. It's strictly business.

Two types of people pay over sticker. Uber rich people who just don’t care about money and 10k is literally nothing to them, and impatient people.
And the latter group will always be disappointed because they'll have wasted their money and it's never worth it. They may also go broke.

Actually, we all paid that $10,000 premium for them (depending on what BEV they bought). It's called a tax rebate.
