Interesting post on tires, there have been other threads here saying the same thing about tires wearing out early.

Some may be due to hard driving, some thoughts that the OEM tires are not the same as the ones you buy at the store...be it a softer tire compound, maybe the tires don't have as much tread as a retail tire.

I am going out to check mine on my Lariat as they are Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT.

Okay, so mine have a treadwear rating of 680 etc, and at about 5000 kms/3000 miles since new, the tread depth is measured in several tires and places to be about 10/32's.

The treadwear rating, temp rating etc are pretty important as to projected tire wear.

How does this compare to your tire info and tread depth, if you have a guage?

Mine are conservatively used with a little light towing locally.

Cheers,

Andy
I have the same tires. basde on the treadwear number, they should last a good while under normal operation. The original poster had Continental tires, in my experience at the dealership, Continental tires seem to be the worst tires on whatever Ford they’ve been used on. Personally, I don’t like them. However, the various Goodyear Wrangler tires seem to be a good tire whether OE or replacement. I hope thats the case with these since I put over 600 miles/week on my truck

The tires provided by the factory were and are the cheapest specification tires and also different from the same tires that are sold to the consumer even with the same branded tires. The tire companies will provide the tires that meet the factory specifications at the cheapest price possible as the factory will dictate the price they will pay and nothing more.

I have always called the tires on new vehicles gumbos as they are round and will hold air for a time until the thread wears out.
In my years at ford or Lincoln dealerships, I’ve found continental tires to be the least desirable tires On whatever vehicle they are installed on. They either wear early of unevenly or both. We hardly ever go back with them when we replace them

I have a 2023 XLT hybrid delivered August 2023. with the CONTINENTAL PROCONTACT TX 225-65-17/ I have just over 17 K miles. I also have another set of wheels with blizzak snows. So for two winters used those. Yet my tires MIGHT make it to end of this summer. So maybe 11 K miles on the oem tires. .

Anyone else have this bad a result??? I drive slow too.

My previous vehicle was a 2020 ecosport I sold just under 3 years 28K miles and the tires were about the same as mine are on maverick. BUT that had 28K BUT also had snows for the Ecosport too for winter. So the Mav oem tires REALLY are BAD.

Is it just me???

I think I will get Hankook Kinergy PT tires next. ........... 90 K warranty If I get 60 K I will be happy.
My Mazda CX 5 was like that. Only 1000 miles on the Maverick right now so hoping for much better. My Mazda went from Dec to Oct and about 10K and they were done.

I am at ~ 33K on the original Conti's. They are at or near end of life at this point. The fronts were changed out during winter with Blizzaks each year. Dry driving they are still sort of decent. Wet driving they have been horrible from the start. I am surprised I've gotten this many miles out of them.
I was a big Conti fan decades ago. That however has changed over the last 20 years. I don't use them anymore. Too many bubbles and uneven wear on other vehicles.
I am just waiting on a sale and figuring out which new tires to go with.

I'm at 34k on the factory contis and they appear to be around 50% worn. Granted, I am in Southern California where we don't get much rain so I am going to use them until around 50k and then change them. These were rotated every 7500 miles or so.

I own a 2022 XLT Hybrid with the Continentals. I do keep the pressure checked and I rotate them. I currently have a little over 36,000 miles on mine and look good for another 10K. Am I an easy driver? Pretty much. A good indication of my driving habits, at my oil change at 35,000mi. I had averaged(by the gauge) 42.2MPG for the previous 10k miles. I am currently averaging 45.3MPG for the previous 1100+ miles. The current reading is a function of the weather--no cold air, but no need for A/C. Not sure what tires I'll get next, but my OEM's seem to be doing fine. Hope I didn't just jinx my tires.

I just took a look at my tires — 13,400 miles, and they're already going bald on the edges! Between that, the paint chipping off at the slightest bump, and the rust forming on the underside and around the hitch (which, by the way, has never been used), I’m really disappointed. This is a 2013 truck that's been garage-kept its entire life and barely seen snow or rain.

Ford seriously dropped the ball on this one. For a vehicle that's been so well cared for, it shouldn't be falling apart like this. The quality just isn’t there — and it shows.

I suspect it's mainly driving style, some people wear out tires very fast.
My guess is that the difference between drivers is when they let off the brake in a turn. If your foot is still pressing the brake as you turn you wear the tires a lot more.

I almost always fully let off the brake before I turn, so the tires are absorbing either braking force, or turning force, *but not both*. The forces are additive, so turning while braking is like stomping hard on the brakes or like doing donuts as far as the tires are concerned.

Two months and off went the OEM continental tires for BFGs. The OEMs were sold and put a large dent in the price of the new, to my liking tires. I guess the factory tires would be fine for most people but I preferred something more appropriate for AWD and Northeast weather.

My '25 Lariat AWD hybrid came with Goodyear "Wrangler Territory HT" tires. At less than 4k miles, there is 11/32" of tread according to my brand new tread depth gauge. That might project to a 30k mile life - not bad but not great.
