Looks like it would let water in to land on the door seal. Looks like it could increase cabin noise.
What reason would you need to vent that location ?
If just for looks I get it, looks cool as ell.

I live in the desert where rain is sparse - but dust is plentiful.

The path to the engine is open however. I’m hoping air will flow out of the vent not in. That is its purpose - let hot air escape from engine bay…

Going to let the 3M tape cure for a day before driving. The quieting foam over the tires is still in place. My worst fear is that it whistles or something! If so, the included covering goes under the mesh.

Those vents should be able to lower your under-hood temps a bit! Looks nice!

Those look nice! I was going for “hot air extraction” though. Also, I’m always hesitant to fiddle with electronics - especially on a vehicle with a history of electronic gremlins ,

And totally unnecessary. The thermostat will compensate and maintain the same engine temp.
During a hard winter the thermostat may have to close even more. That level of ventilation could cause a hot spot In the motor during the dead of winter.
Just speculation. It’s how my brain works.

Good points. Although the turbo & its associated parts are nearest to the vents. A cooler turbo is a happier turbo?

So you’re saying I should abandon my quest for putting heat extraction vents in the hood also? :)

Are you experiencing overheating issues? Is that why you want to vent under hood air?

The purpose of heat extraction vents are to minimize heat soak. OP states he lives in the desert too.

If by "bit" you mean 0.001 °F, then yes.

This is a cosmetic mod.
Not totally cosmetic. Under hood temps will be lowered by a few degrees. Something like a 20 or 30 F difference would be a stretch, but could it be 5 F or so? Absolutely.

There are plenty of ways for under-hood heat to escape and prevent heat soak; for example, along the entire length of the hood where it meets the fenders. I doubt very seriously that the small amount of added ventilation is going to make a difference in the temperature of a water-cooled turbocharger. If heat extraction from this area was that important, people with upper trims of the Maverick would be removing the insulation where the fender and door meet.
