If my bicycle was shaped like your golf clubs, that would be a good solution. ;)

I think that's what they are. Maybe they're just highspeed dumpsters? I see plenty of trash flying out of them.

Wait....that's an option?!?!
Wouldn't liking a politician make a simple problem more complicated?
Ok!!

I think the issue is that with the tonneau cover, you can secure stuff OR carry bikes. If you need both, the stuff needing to be locked up will have to be tossed in the back seat, or the bikes put on a rack.
Thank you! Exactly what I've been thinking. I minor inconvenience considering how versatile a truck bed is. I'm just spit-balling possible alternatives.

Yakima makes a hitch mounted trunk system. It's pricy but could fit your purpose and still maintian full bed functionality.
Wow that's some nice stuff. For longer cross country type trips, that setup would be awesome.
I used to have a ford ranger and had a plastic box but no tanneau cover
Great reminder! I have this box sitting in storage with a bunch of camping stuff in it. It was perfect for my old camping/kayak trailer that I pulled around with a ford focus. Looks like it'll be coming out of retirement and into the back of my maverick. They have definitely gotten expensive. I think I paid $80 10 years ago.

We had to put the groceries on the back seat (why I wish the seat back folded down) until I got my divider built. Stores the grocery totes and cooler bag, easily removable for bed use.

Getting back into something with a bed has cured my "No-Bed" anxiety.

Also my bed cover works good enough for a trunk. Just don't leave anything hyper valuable in it for prolonged times.

I was going for a soft roll-up tonneau cover, but a shipping error changed that. I ended up getting the hard tri-fold, and am so glad I did. Solves all your trunk withdrawal problems.

For $20,000 more you can get a Ridgeline - it has a trunk.

Before you burn me at the stake, here me out. 😂
I can see all truck owners rolling their eyes.

I've never owned a truck, so life without a trunk sounds strange. You can toss whatever back there and it's secure, concealed, easily accessible and more importantly....not cluttering up the vehicles interior.

My daughter's karate gear bag, soccer bag, camp chairs, and more are all in my current vehicle's trunk. As well as some tools, power charger, and some other random stuff.

I know some of this stuff will find a home underneath the rear bench. Namely the tools and other things rarely used. (Side note: I wish the rear seat was a two piece design. So I can access underneath one half without disturbing her booster seat.)

Most of my buddies truck's rear floorboards look like my current cars trunk. Lots of random stuff piled in there. I really don't want that.

I know a tonneau cover is probably my best option, but I just don't think it compares to ol' faithful (my trunk).

The built in trunk in the Santa Fe (oops Santa Cruz) and Ridgeline are probably the best of both worlds for me, but I cannot justify the vehicle prices.

I've thought about bolting/chaining in some sort of waterproof chest.

I love the versatility of the bed. That's a huge reason why I'm so excited about this truck.

Anyone else worried about trunk withdrawals? 😂

Or what's your plan to stow your current vehicle's stuff with your Maverick?
With a hard tonneau cover and a divider in the bed you have a much better trunk than you will ever have on a car.
