NO Maverick FOR ME. I ordered Maverick last October, Hybrid, Lariat, white, LUX, 360 with a $500 deposit. Stopped at the dealer, VIC BAILEY Ford, Spartanburg SC, six weeks ago and was told if the truck had to be rolled over as a 23 model year the dealership would do it automatically. I did not have to do anything. When the order bank opened for the 23's I did nothing as instructed. Two weeks I called Ford directly. Ford rep told me there was a four-digit number missing from the order that had to be entered by dealer. I contacted the dealer by phone and no one ever called me back. I always had to contact them (shitty service). I finally was able to talk to a senior manager, James, (he never called back either). I was asked why I had not responded to Ford's email with instructions on rolling over to a 23. I never received any such email! Three days after the date he said he would call I reached out to him. James said that the order was not going to be fulfilled. He did not know where the error occurred (of course). James did offer an option. Next year when order banks open I can order a 24model year Maverick. Yes, that was the only option. My reply was to return my deposit. I will never buy a Ford vehicle nor buy from Vic Bailey, including their other dealerships.
I own a 2014 Honda CR-V with 53k miles. It runs great. I'm changing the original tires and performing a few other maintenance items and keeping for a while. What a shitty experience with Ford and Vic Bailey Ford.
Dealer can still order dealer stock. Whats stopping them from making you whole with one of their dealer orders? Just have them order it ay you want.

Unless I'm full of it. ???

Not to bust any bubbles, but doesn't Ford count the entire "F" line of trucks to claim the #1 seller of trucks?
yes they do except the Medium Duty trucks (F-650/750) are not counted in. But Chevy Silverado and Ram models also do the same and count all their models the same as F-Series.

Sorry that sucks. While I get why Ford did it that way, it's tough for people like you who listened to bad advice.
The lesson here is “Dealers don’t know enough to be helpful.”

Ordering another one from a different dealer might have gotten you a truck. It might have been a Toyota or a Nissan, but it beats walking.

We need a database with shitty/good dealers.

Except for the 22 orders that were cancelled, i see no chance of the 23 order banks reopening.
They have at least 10 months of trucks to build with the 86,000 orders taken in september and they have not scheduled any of them yet. Plus another few thousand 22 orders that are rolling into that number as well.
And fleet orders, too. They may have already booked all the orders they can build.

There may also be fewer months of 23MY production if they try to get back on a normal model year schedule. Don’t they normally start in September?

I still have hope for my 2022 Maverick AWD XLT being built.
I just checked with Ford Chat, they say that my build date has been bumped (again) to November 2. I now see a window sticker. I thought that they would be on 23's by now. But glad they are not. So I am still thinking that I will get it this year. Hope that we all do. Ordered in 12/21. I know others have been waiting longer.

Every car buyer should recognize that dealer sales staff are purely transactional. Their focus is on the next prospect to walk through the door, not flying air cover for sales already made (which is how they would categorize an order). This is not a knock on the OP, since they specifically told him they would fly that air cover and didn't. But, looking at them the way I've described might have created enough of a sense of suspense to cause him to prod them to follow through in time.

It comes down to how the sales staff get paid. The same Ford store 3 miles up the road from me was a small family-owned dealership with salaried sales staff. I knew the salesman from his days at a Jeep dealership, where I bought two vehicles. He could afford to look after me when I purchased a new 2003 F-150, a 2012 F-350, a 2013 Fiesta, and an almost new 2011 Fusion.

Then the dealership was sold to a volume dealer group and the atmosphere immediately changed. The sales staff are now all commissioned and held to quotas. They all look like wise guys and use high-pressure tactics.

The first time I went there looking to buy a vehicle, I outlined my customer history of buying vehicles there and was promptly informed that I didn't buy them from the current ownership, so it didn't count. I've bought 3 new Fords since then (2014 Fiesta, 2018 Fusion Titanium, and 2022 Maverick) and none of them came from that dealership, which has since been sold to yet another high-volume dealer group. I wouldn't trust either of the last two sets of sales staff to pay attention to my order instead of prowling the lot or entrance looking for a new prospect to appear.

As Reagan once said, "Trust, but verify".
