After 92 years in operation the plant I work for is permanently closing in June. It's a big shock to me and the community. Over 400 jobs lost in the blink of an eye. I have been here 18 years.

So I am on a job hunt. And no dealer is going to sell me anything without income. Currently looking to stay with the company but will more than likely have to relocate.

I were you I would find a friend with good credit and willing to split any profit you make above and beyond, the average mark up on those trucks is $7000, last time I could add and subtract that's 3500 each

The only problem is he would have to find a friend or someone who will pay cash. They will only offer original prices to the one who placed the order and if it is financed, it has to be in that person's name as well. I suppose the other person could co-sign with the OP?

I am in the same boat and have two orders in place. I plan on selling the 2nd order, but don't want two credit hits so I was going to find someone who can pay cash and purchase the vehicle with it and then transfer it into their name. I was going to try and get $2500 on top because its better than the dealer taking it and selling it to someone else for $10k over.

Take a couple of days to consider the good and bad of the situation and the go do whatever it is that you always said that is what i want to do and do it. The best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off 20+ years ago.

I am working on leads with my company. We have locations all over the US. Just trying to find a landing spot, we have around 60 days before this location shuts down.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I cannot have a lapse in insurance. My youngest child has an autoimmune disease (I won't get into all the details but there is no cure) and we have to have continuous insurance to meet her needs.

My Mav still doesn't even have a production date (and may never have one) so the longer it takes, the better. It will give me time to find something else. And I really hate moving but I'll do what I gotta do.

I read about the plant closure the other day, sorry to hear about that. Not sure about suitability, but whatever happened with the Eastern Shipbuilding expansion in PC? I remember reading a few years back that it would bring lots of new industrial jobs to that area.

Eastern is still here and right next door. However most of the jobs there are much lower paying than what I make (unless you are an engineer, which I am not). It will be an option for some, but not me. I did apply there for one position but have not heard anything back. I do have a Bacherlor's degree and that will be helpful but it has nothing to do with the field I am in.

Ask your HR rep about COBRA (continuation coverage). You should be able to continue your current policy (at great expense) for up to 18months. Not great, but does provide continuous credible coverage.

the official unemployment figure is dishonest because it excludes from the count the million unemployed Americans who have given up looking for a job. You don’t count as “unemployed” unless you are actively looking for a job.

Back in 2012, my husband was without a job and got an auto loan approved in his name and bought our daughter a used Jeep Wrangler. It's entirely doable.
