Just looking at your USB cable I can absolutely guarantee that is where the problem lays. It looks like you aren't using a name brand cable designed for high speed data transfer. Those colorful round cables like your red one are pretty but also something that rhymes with pretty. Not only are cables like that bad, the connectors are even worse.Just installed a brand-new one directly from Ford. I regained the connection, but I immediately noticed it disconnects with small taps. I drove two hours on the highway and it disconnected a couple of times. I’m thinking of replacing it again, along with the mini-USB cable, just to be sure the cable isn’t the problem. I wonder how many people out there have the same issue?
No, I didn’t think that would be the fix, but it didn’t hurt to try. The Apple cable made no difference. I took it to the dealer for another reason and asked the service advisor. He said he isn’t familiar with that specific problem, but he thinks it’s either the cable/connection in the back or the module itself. I ordered a cable-testing device and a new Mini USB cable, so I’ll test that next.
