I have that same issue all the time. I'm not sure what it is. I don't think it's the USB. I think it's something with the stereo itself. I have my iPod classic plugged in. Sometimes it gets hung up on a song and will play half of it, then skip to the next song. Sometimes it will go to the next song and that song never starts after about 10 seconds and then just skips to the next song. This morning, same issue you had. It showed the iPod connected but wouldn't play. iPod wasn't locked up. Unplugged the USB. Still showed it as a source after plugging back in but wouldn't play. Stopped and started vehicle. Still shows as a source but wouldn't play. Drives me nuts sometimes. They got rid of a CD player but can't seem to give me functional technology to replace it.On my 2023 Mav XLT, the front USB intermittantly shuts down while using Carplay. Sometimes I can just remove the cable & plug it back in and it sync's up and other times I have to shut the truck off and restart before it comes back to life. I have tried searching for others who have had the same issue and have come up empty. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Not sure if there is something in the latest backup camera code that would address this by chance.
I have not tried using carplay in the Maverick. However in my 2023 Silverado I had the same problem with USB-A. The design of USB-A let's the connection break from minor bumps. The USB-C port and cable was more stable and never disconnected. On my 2023 Mav XLT, the front USB intermittantly shuts down while using Carplay. Sounds like someone like myself who spent decades troubleshooting machinery. For instance the machines used to manufacture most of the parts in your Maverick. Sometimes the easiest way to diagnose is swap parts. Are you a bot?
When I was troubleshooting Dell servers, and Dell support was not sure exactly what was causing an issue, they would send me as many as 15 parts such as CPU's, backplanes, memory dimms, cables etc, and say just replace everything they sent me. When in doubt, swap it out.Sounds like someone like myself who spent decades troubleshooting machinery. For instance the machines used to manufacture most of the parts in your Maverick. My front CarPlay USB connector crapped out on me and I ended up buying a new one and replacing it myself. The new one was an updated part number and I have had no problems since I replaced it. Here it is on Amazon. Ford or other websites may sell it for cheaper .Yes, different cables have been tried. But here's the thing, if carplay was working for 45 minutes then it decideds to disconnect, would you still consider it to be a cable issue ? Can I find one that is not made in China ?
Thanks man. I just might have to go that route. My front CarPlay USB connector crapped out on me and I ended up buying a new one and replacing it myself. The best maintenance technician is a well stocked spare parts inventory. When I was troubleshooting Dell servers, and Dell support was not sure exactly what was causing an issue, they would send me as many as 15 parts such as CPU's, backplanes, memory dimms, cables etc, and say just replace everything they sent me. Yep, easy to do. I have done that multiple times without success. Ill see what the Ford Mobile tech has to say when he comes to do a the backup camera recall.Replace your cable...same issue here on a 2023 Explorer.
