Thanks for the add. We bought a cancelled order Maverick to replace our F150.

We are getting only about 18mpg so far and the truck will absolutely not track straight. You are having to constantly correct the steering. The dealer is saying to bring it in but they are the final decision if we are going to be charged on a repair or not. What kind of $h*+ is that? Brand new truck and it drives like a 50 year old truck with worn out suspension?!?

The gas mileage is literally worse than our old V8 F150!

Anyone else with these issues? I've owned many Ford's but this is bad. The truck is amazing looking but with those two problems, we should have kept our F150.

Caliper malfunction? Could cause it too pull, also increasing rolling resistance. Could also be wheel bearings. I would put it up on jack stands and put it in neutral and see how the wheels spin. I suppose the bearing in the transaxle could do that aswell, but you would think it would be puking ATF.

Your issues are likely tied together. Missallignment to that extent affects mpg… as well as tire wear naturally. Not certain what youre talking about with your suspension though lol

anyways as per your bit about whether or not its a common problem, not for me, and its not a highly complained about thing on this forum. My 22’ xlt tracks straight, gets 30mpg and suspension feels stiff. 🤷‍♂️ sorry bud. Anyways. As long as you didnt do your winter tire swap yourself you should have no problem getting this sorted out on warranty

What? Why would you check any of these things before allignment. Especially on a new vehicle. Alignment can be human error. Everything you meantioned would be part malfunction

Had those symptoms once on a F150. One of the rubber front brake lines de-laminated on the inside and prevented the caliper from releasing as quick as it should.

Because you cant check the alignment in your driveway? Very well atleast unless you have toe plates and one of those multi axis level gauges. Also jacking up your new car is a good way to familiarize yourself with it. I always atleast take a look at things before I go have someone else get paid to do it.

If it's bitter cold, and that's true city driving, that's about what you'll get. I got 19.5 the last tank. Typical is 21-22 (city) for me. I drive quite spirited. It also takes awhile to break in. It will get better with time. I took delivery in Dec. Mine tracks true -- unless there's a strong side wind.

I think everyone of these things could be a possibility. In case I didn't make it clear, this is an entirely stock brand new truck. We mostly drive highway into town. We live out in the boonies of Canada. I had it oil sprayed and was going to have them look at wheel spin but their lift was a scissor type. Will try on jackstands soon before taking to dealer again. It was not my normal dealer I purchased at. Will have to travel to bring to them I guess.

Yes very cold this week. Minus 20c one day. Ok, I am sure it is alignment then. I used to have an old Isuzu that did this and it was because of mismatched tires...but these are brand new.

Just curious, Did you test drive the Maverick before you bought it? Would test-driving it have shown you the steering problem?

@JohnAdamsCanada your gas mileage seems pretty normal for an EB especially if it's an AWD model driven in colder weather.

I'm not sure what "tracking" is but it sounds like an alignment issue to me. It maybe inconvenient because you live in the boonies but I would suggest setting up an appointment with your local dealer to have them check for any suspension issues.

It sounds like an alignment issue, but if the vehicle is that new the dealership should be able to rectify the issue

Electric parking brake adjustment possibly. Even cold it should get 26mpg with some city driving.

Yes we test drove. It mainly happened on the highway and we were only on highway for about 2 minutes.
