No VINs listed for any of them. Seems like Mac Haik Ford Lincoln is selling vehicles that they don't actually own. Hard not to see this as gaming the system (at best) or shifty sales tactics (at worst).

I wonder how Ford feels about this...

I'm thinking they are advertising vehicles they have ordered and like the rest of use they are waiting for them to get delivered. In the meantime they can use ads like this to draw people into the dealership and either secure an order or the, "hey I don't have a Maverick available right now, but I do have these other trucks" scam.
I will say that I'm curious about the restored '74 Maverick advertised on the website!

What is interesting is the listed price along with the comment 'below average' figure.

An XL for $23,695 listed as $6,562 below average... so anXL should retail for $30,257...

I think these are vehicles ordered for stock, and marketed with a healthy ADM/markup.
But what do I know?

HAH! Nope...
Sometimes dealers will set crazy prices for orders in transit if they're already sold because their web inventory lists it automatically and they don't want to be bothered by people asking about that unit. You see it with Mach-Es and Bronco orders. Obviously a $48.3k MSRP wouldn't stand up when you actually looked at the Monroney.

Alternatively they may be dodging TrueCar fees. If you come in with a TrueCar price voucher and you buy it they have to pay ~$400 for that lead. If they were to sell you another Maverick they don't.

All of these Mavericks have VINS when you look at Mac Haik's ACTUAL website, not the carsforsale.com link.. They're not gaming any system or trying to sell trucks that don't exist. They have legit VINs on their site, they probably have stock orders that are built/being built right now. I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing. Once dealers get VINs for stock units, they usually get posted to websites ASAP, just somebody doing their job.

The June order folks aren't gonna be happy.

"Where's my build schedule?!"

"Looks like it went to dealer stock"

While they are showing the 12 units on their site, some of those could certainly be retail orders as well.

My local dealer puts all vehicles on their website, I think it is actually automatically uploaded once they recieve notification that the build has commenced, even retail orders get put on their site, the dealer physically has to mark it as sold or remove the listing if they wish to prevent confusion. Trust me, there were a bunch of Bronco folks not too happy with my local dealer when they saw THEIR retail order "for sale" on the dealers site. Truth was, it was never "for sale" to the public, the vehicles automatically got posted to the dealers site once the build was actually in progress. The dealer then went through and put SOLD on all of the default pics of their "retail" Broncos, and the other two they had are DEMOs, so those also got marked as DEMO, to designate not for immediate sale.

Also, looks like 11 of those 12 are 2.0L FWD units. Probably very basic, limited options. Just as Granger mentioned they initially had four similar stock units scheduled before any of their retail orders. Some one small like Granger, compared to this much larger TX dealer, I wouldn't be surprised if this larger dealer got this many stock units from the jump.
