What’s annoying to me is you’re supposed to rotate tires at 5k but that’s too soon IMO for synthetic oil change. I like to do both at the same time. Not sure I can bring myself to wait to change oil at 10k. I like 7500 miles or no more than one year on my hybrid, whichever comes first.

Mine is a 2023 Eco Boost 2.0L Basically the same engine Ford has been using in Escapes for 10+ years.

What surprises me is that someone said there is no magnet in the oil plug...I'll change that on the first change if that's the case......hopefully Ford didn't cheap out.

I'm changing my first oil at 1K unless I read that Ford has additives in the initial filling with specific instructions about mileage before changing it. Otherwise I am sticking to the tried and true method of first oil change around 1K (Toyota master engineers recommendations) to remove any small metal shavings that should have found their way to the oil pan - which is also why the oil plug should have a magnet.

After that it's every 5K-7.5K (or 1 year) between changes for me. I tend to push the rpms every now and then and with a turbo or SC I think 10K is pushing it to the max.

(1) there are 4 ways to lock the truck. …. Tap the door handle, press the lock button inside, press the bottom 2 buttons on the keypad on the door, or use the remote. Do they all set the alarm?
(2) I see differing thoughts on oil change duration. I understand it is synthetic oil and that last much longer. I had to use synthetic in my’67 Triumph Spitfire as it broke down regular oil in about 1000 miles. But I have seen anything from 3000 miles, to 7,500 miles to “the vehicle will let you know when it’s time”. We have 4000 miles and LOVE the truck but I have been a firm believer in more oil changes are better than not enough.
Any advice?
Go with your instincts, clean oil never hurts, I use one of the trip meters for oil change mileage

When you read these oil change interval "facts", understand most are nothing more than an opinion. Often based on nothing more than ....other peoples opinions.
If you do not see an oil analysis sheet backing up condition of the oil when changed, there is simply nothing more to be said about it.
Engines produced today don't really break in like older engines. There won't be chunks of metal in the pan. There can be wear particles from bearing and slide surfaces burnishing in. Your engines oil filter can easily handle anything that needs removed from the oil.
Engine oils produced today are not anything like what was offered back in the good ole days. They have superior detergents, superior base additives to fight acid formation, and superior lubricating properties.

I will go ahead and say that no one reading this, that changes the engine oil at or before the oil life monitor says to or the manual says to will EVER have an engine oil related engine failure. Your $20 per quart boutique oil will last exactly 7 miles longer than the one with Mobil 1 full synthetic that meets Fords oil requirements. Maybe 9 miles longer than running Super Tech from Walmart. Yes, that is tongue in cheek. But get over the 3000 mile oil changes. There is actually enough cases of drain plugs not being tightened, oil filters left loose, that caused engine failures to prove too often oil changing could increase a chance of engine failure more than going recommended intervals or even longer.

I change oil everytime I park it with $21 per quart "boutique" oil.

And never lock it.

Opinions about oil changes are like belly buttons...

Here's mine: get your first change at 3,000-5,000 or within three months. Period. Get all of the manufacturing crud out of it.

Then change based on when oil life counter gets to 15%.

Let the truck tell you when its time. I have both ecoboost and a hybrid. The hybrid goes much longer before oil change. I think i was at 13,000 miles before it said it was due.

You can use the ford pass app to lock the door too

The Security section in the manual (starts at page 85 in mine) goes into pretty good detail on the alarm

As for oil changes, mercy, that's a debated subject on this form, sometimes heated. Everybody has their on opinion on frequency and oil type. I'm a believer in frequent oil changes in an ICE vehicle, especially when turbo charged.

For ME in my ICE version, I will change the oil and filter every 4-5 thousand miles with a full synthetic oil that meets all of fords specifications.

For a Hybrid, I don't think you will need to change it no where close to that amount (unless your driving environment/style uses the ICE engine a lot). You may be fine going 7-10 thousand, that's a judgement call you will have to make for YOU. For ME, I'm one that prefers to be safe than sorry so I do maintenance a little earlier than the manual.

I did copy this info below from the manual if helps in your decision. Good Luck.

Your vehicle comes with the Intelligent
Oil-Life Monitor system, a message
appears in the information display at the
proper oil change interval. This interval
may be up to one year or 10,000 mi
(16,000 km), hybrid vehicles could exceed
10,000 mi (16,000 km).

When the oil change message appears in
the information display, it is time for an oil
change. Make sure you perform the oil
change within two weeks or 500 mi
(800 km) of the message appearing. Make
sure to reset the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor
after each oil change. See Resetting the
Engine Oil Change Reminder (page 303).

If your information display resets
prematurely or becomes inoperative, you
should perform the oil change interval at
six months or 5,000 mi (8,000 km) from
your last oil change. Never exceed one year
or 10,000 mi (16,000 km) between oil
change intervals.
I am having mine (EcoBoost) changed next Saturday. It's right at 5k since the last oil change and the intelligent oil change reminder popped up today. I went to see how to reset it so I will know going forward, but under Settings, Vehicle, there is no reset oil life option as started in the manual. The only options in the menu are Remote Start and Wipers.
