Paste "Ford Racing Intercooler" in a search window and you will find a $150 FMC discount coupon that reduces the Mishimoto price to $850.00. Accrue points???
Or just see post 21 here.

Hey Carlitos_92 I said that because unless you cut the active grill shutters off, you can’t remove the intercooler without removing the AC condenser. Everything thing is stacked on top of each other and everything sits inside the radiator core support.
After installing the CV fab intercooler I changed the radiator out for a towing radiator. It was a complete pain in the a$$, without discharging the AC.

Is every intercooler like that? You need to cut the radiator fins?

It isn't radiator fins - it's the active plastic shutters that control how much air gets into that lower grille opening.

The Ford/Mishimoto unit this thread is about apparently "doesn't require any vehicle modifications," but until now, most if not all aftermarket units required some sort of plastic trimming.

Forgive me if it has been asked but is the other IC option imported like the Ford offering?

Looks cool (See what I did there hehe) but a bit expensive. With that said, the biggest threat to an Ecoboost is heat. The little turbine generates a ton of heat degrading the oil faster and potentially affecting the life of the engine. I kind of feel like this should be standard but not a surprise it is not. I plan of frequent oil changes to mitigate this; likely 5000 miles at most. (Currently I sit at 932 miles)

Will see if the additional expense for the oil changes is worth it over time but typically how I deal with this. My last truck was a Tacoma (2016) that I traded for the Maverick last year. The Tacoma was 4 cylinder. The Tacoma was in top condition given my fussing over it and with rebates, haggling etc., I was able to purchase my 2025 XL Ecoboost 4K Towing for about $9K out of pocket. The first 3 years of maintenance on the Tacoma was free. After that, I used a private mechanic.

My wife's vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Avalon (Naturally Aspirated) that was also fussed over; frequent oil changes, fluid flushes etc. It has about 140K miles and shows no signs of quitting although the finish is a little rough. (We live in Maine. A state that likes to destroy vehicles.)

All Ecoboosts (if not all turbo engines at this point) have intercoolers; this is just a larger one for performance applications.

In any case, this cools the pressurized intake air. Oil cooling is handled elsewhere.

So a more robust intercooler can actually make the turbo HOTTER (by increasing the engine’s output) and require more frequent oil changes..,

Nope. Not only is the intercooler AFTER the turbo, the intercooler by itself is not going to "increase the engine's output."

If cooler intake air will not increase the engine output (hp) - why would you install a more robust intercooler in the first place?

More power = hotter turbo

Yes - the intercooler is AFTER the red hot turbo!
