" It's crazy to me how people will call a dealership that's selling a vehicle at actual Market value a scumbag but would do essentially the same thing tomorrow if they could. "

The difference is Carvana and others make an offer - "Can I please pay this much?" Dealers say "You must pay this much." Someone wanting to do an unwise thing vs. being forced to do something bad is not the same.

While some only lambast all dealers and will NEVER pay above MSRP or NEVER allow an add on, others are enjoying their Mavericks. I sold my EB to a DEALER for a profit when my hybrid, so I join the rest of you who did that as a scumbag in the eyes of some who replied

There's plenty of shady stuff that happens out there. Technically Walmart is a flipper, right? Anytime a product is bought and resold for more money that's flipping. No difference buying and selling used trading cards, antique cars, you name it by low sell High. Own any stocks?
whatever you scalpers and flippers need to tell yourselves to sleep at night... happy flippin' life...

When you order it and they say it has no ADM or has one ADM, only to have it arrive and refuse to sell it to you because now the ADM is much higher is outriught scumbaggery. Anywhere else, I see the total price when I order and it doesn't change. Has anyone ever had Amazon charge you more for something you ordered after you placed the order but before it arrived? Or anywhere else for that matter? No. Not Even WalMart makes price changes after orders are made but before delivery.

Making profit is one thing. Changing the terms of the sale midstream is another.

This is why I insist that anyone near who has been charged an ADM, was told there was an ADM, or otherwise considering accepting an ADM call the State AGs office complaint line. FIll it up. Its highway robbery, especially after realizing dealerships are reporting record profits with lower sales numbers. If it were FAIR, profit would move in sync with sales numbers, not go up when the other goes down.

So I have owned several small businesses in my life and also worked in the car business for a few years. Worked in sales for two separate dealerships. One was a scumbag lying dumpster fire and the other one was a highly reputable company that I am still closely in touch with to this day (20 years later). I make no excuse for dealerships who pull tricks, lie to people, sell Factory orders out from under people or mislead their customer as to what they're buying price will be. I also personally hate unwanted add-ons that soak extra thousands of dollars from the consumer's pocket. For what it's worth I've never been a huge fan of any of extras including extended warranties, window etch, ceramic coating etc etc etc. That all being said, so long as a dealer is open and honest about what they're doing I have no problem with them selling their vehicles at actual Market value. I believe that any dealer that sells a new Maverick at sticker to a consumer deserves a trophy and is doing you a favor. I think a lot of us if we have the opportunity and cash to buy an extra XL hybrid at sticker would do it and turn around and sell it to carvana for a few thousand dollars in extra cash. It's crazy to me how people will call a dealership that's selling a vehicle at actual Market value a scumbag but would do essentially the same thing tomorrow if they could. At the end of the day there are people in this world who care a lot more about their own pocket than the guy buying their truck. Some of them are dealers and some of them are us. Enough said.
as long as it is 'their' vehicle that they ordered, it's fine. If it's my order that I ordered and they try to pull any of that cr-- ....hell no.

Most products at Walmart aren't exclusively sold there though. I can go to a variety of other stores to buy one. It's not really analogous to a franchise system of distribution.

Dealerships are no longer needed. Service centers only. Direct to consumer sales of vehicles. More profit for Manuf. and/or better price for consumer and no need to interact with salesperson.

Needed to be said.
Based on my experience I agree. The only value I ever received from a dealer was before the internet they could locate a vehicle I wanted at another dealer. Now I tell them what dealer has the vehicle I want or I just go to that other dealer. I have never met a salesperson that knows more about the vehicle than I do. Dealers were smart to protect their business in state laws years ago. If it wasn't for that I don't think the traditional dealership would exist today.

OK so How do you buy straight from Ford. No Dealer any Ideas because I am all in. I Have the O5 Ranger and Had the 22 Mav. Drove the Mav for about 8 Months yes I loved it However when someone offers Double what I gave for it. ( Really I hate Myself But I took it) How does Ianyone say no when you have slapped 12K Miles on it.. I do wish there was a way to Buy Direct from Factory. I would do it every time. Sorry for the rant

Ford is prohibited from selling directly.

Chasing the money is fine, unless you want to buy another Maverick. Between price increases, interest rate increases, and possible depreciation of the vehicle you (may have) bought after selling, you'd have to clear a lot to make the swap worthwhile.

Let's say you bought a 22 XL and after fees, dealer add ons and taxes you're around 23-24k. Your interest rate was 2%. You sell for 40k. So you clear 16k. Now you buy another vehicle, or don't.

Now you want a 24 XL and after fees, dealer add ons and taxes you're around 30k. Now you've only cleared 10k. And interest rates are tripled. Now you've cleared 8k. And if you bought another vehicle and need to trade it in you've cleared less than 8k.

I can definitely see the allure of sellingbut I'd only do it if I was switching to a different vehicle permanently.

Here is my opinion for what it is worth. It's not about the price it's about the honesty.(which is in short supply these days) My Maverick is on a train right now. When I go to pick it up if I am told any other price then what was agreed on. Shit is going to hit the fan. You see I still live in a world that if you look me in the eye and shake my hand, I expect you to be honorable. If your not then I will also not be and you will lose more then me.

Not me! I'd hide it in the garage and hardly ever drive it.
If I had the space, I'd order a. 2024. Use some of my work material (tyvek bags, dessicate packets) and seal that puppy up as a spare. And i would be set for vehicles for the rest of driving. Life. 😍😍😜
