I CAN say say with certainty I’ll never forget to check moving forward.
Not sure how the hybrid is laid out, but most every car I've owned has allowed me to visually see at least some of the filter housing mating surface. I have made a habit of going a step further and wiping that surface off all the way around with a clean rag. It isn't a bad idea to clean it, plus I get to lay my fingers on it and prove there isn't an old gasket left.

I would swear it wasn’t there and that I saw it but clearly I did not 🤦‍♂️

Wow - are you sure that's the correct filter? I once had O'Reilly's pull the WRONG filter for a car as they keep them behind the counter and you don't pick your own like in AutoZone. It threaded in, but the gasket was the wrong circumference. Also made a BIG mess as it self-unscrewed (much more to the story, including O'Reilly paying for a new turbo install for our old EcoBoost Escape, but you get the idea). I always compare old to new filters when installing to make sure they match, including gasket design.

is it also possible that the gasket from the old filter got stuck to the engine, and when you screwed on the new filter you double-gasketed it?

Wonder how that happened. Good Luck!
Had the double gasket issue on my snowmobile a few years ago... Got about an 1/8 mile from the hotel after arriving and blew oil all over the trail and the entire engine compartment. UGH !!

As the title states - what is the part number for the felt under shield (think skid plate) for the engine for a 2025 hybrid?

First time in my life I’ve had gasket fail on an oil filter and it created quite the mess…

Sorry Cal, that sucks.
But as "Aleks" posted. You found the problem, remedied it. Now you're just looking for that fiber splash Shield.

Take care.

I am surprised..... to be updated later.

Still can’t find the correct underbody shield from ford.

Last call from any members better than me to sleuth this out….

Likely just making the upgrade to the rival skid plate even though I’d prefer not to!

Once confident that the numbers have remained the same, get better priced at least.

At some point the 24's switched (or maybe always had due to recall attempts for thrown rod) to it appears a unified version, no EB or hybrid specific.
Mine has the hole for the AWD FDU cooler - just no plastic to make it shoot the air.
Compared to pics I saw of prior years missing that hole, but had the added holes from recall.
If you get one without the plastic scoop - it appears to easily pop off.

Damn. Thanks I’m seeing the same with FWD. I didn’t save my plastic scoop. I wish I would have.

The MavBrid does not need a rival skid plate.

So if you think that Ford's felt shield is as cheap as it gets.....order a replacement shield from Carparts.com and oooooh boy will you long for the felt!

The replacement I got is oily plastic that "fits" in place but many of the holes for the screws/fasteners are off by an 1/8th of an inch so you have to start them at an angle and let it open the hole up as it tightens.

The worst part is that after 14 fasteners the shield itself doesn't maintain any shape and there is a big belly that sags 2-3" lower than stock.

Needless to say it was a total waste of $85 and I've just decided to order the Rival skid plate, take my medicine, and turn a negative into an improvement.
