As the title states - what is the part number for the felt under shield (think skid plate) for the engine for a 2025 hybrid?

First time in my life I’ve had gasket fail on an oil filter and it created quite the mess…

Wow - are you sure that's the correct filter? I once had O'Reilly's pull the WRONG filter for a car as they keep them behind the counter and you don't pick your own like in AutoZone. It threaded in, but the gasket was the wrong circumference. Also made a BIG mess as it self-unscrewed (much more to the story, including O'Reilly paying for a new turbo install for our old EcoBoost Escape, but you get the idea). I always compare old to new filters when installing to make sure they match, including gasket design.

is it also possible that the gasket from the old filter got stuck to the engine, and when you screwed on the new filter you double-gasketed it?

Wonder how that happened. Good Luck!

Anybody have a cross reference for the filter number??

Get the Rival plate, at least you could clean it up if that ever happens again.

It was a double gasket failure on my part. Never had that happen in 25 years and hundreds of oil changes....quite the mess I made!

Years ago when I worked at an independent auto repair shop we had a high school student come to work for us. On his first day the boss had him do an oil change.

He started the engine after doing the oil change and oil poured out onto the floor. I asked to see the old filter. He grabbed it and I could see that the gasket wasn't on it. I asked him where the gasket was. He said he didn't know. I told him it's still on the engine.

He removed the new filter and It didn't have two gaskets, it had three! The last guy had also left the old gasket on but it didn't leak.

It's very rare for the gasket to stay on the engine but it can happen.

I CAN say say with certainty I’ll never forget to check moving forward.

Look on the bright side, you found the issue, it was easy, AND you gave the front engine bay a nice layer of anti corrosion film just in time for winter :bandit:

It's going to drip for days.....

I had already applied Fluid Film for the winter. I also noticed that my HF55 is leaking but now I covered up all evidence of that and need the new felt shield to start proving it again.

take the skid plate off, get yourself a 6 pack of brake cleaner, and try not to breathe too deep.
