Ok so my AC was intermittent and it has been determined by my dealer that my ambient exterior temperature sensor may be bad and the pig tail cable housing needs changed. Code P0073 Beiner Ford wanted $1350 plus tax to change the housing and sensor lol Here are my questions -
1. If it’s now unplugged, it can’t be intermittent, and so my AC should continuously work when I turn it on.
2. I’m aware this circuit is somehow attached to the start stop function which might affect that. I hate that feature anyway, fringe benefit?? Any reason I shouldn’t leave it unplugged indefinitely?
3. If I buy the pig tail and splice it in myself, do I need to disconnect battery terminals before working?
4. Any downside to splicing in a new pig tail? I can do this from the front of the bumper without removing anything, will take me less than 10 minutes.
5. I bought a new sensor for $37. Is this easy to just rip out and shove back in, reaching in from front? Think I’ll change the housing first and see if I’m good…
I work on gtrs not cars, so your help is much appreciated!! Cheers - John
