Us early hybrid orders that waited an extra 3 months for Ok To Buy (OKTB) longer than ecoboost. It seems hard to believe EPA wasn't actually doing tests. Otherwise, what was the holdup? Or was that just for emissions and not mpg estimates?
That was for emissions/MPG because Ford tried certifying the Maverick Hybrid using Escape Hybrid figures and purportedly the EPA was wary of that after the Fusion/C-Max efficiency debacle. So Ford went back and did the testing on Maverick directly. Ford initially had estimated the Maverick Hybrid at 40 mpg City at launch announcement. So it was a bit of surprise good news when the official numbers came out that it scored 42 mpg City.

EPA knows they can thoroughly trust manufacturers for emissions and mileage data. ;) Well, except for VW diesel, damn internal emails.
