Haven't driven a hybrid Maverick yet since mine hasn't been built yet but have driven a Jeep hybrid and it decels slightly quicker than my manual drive Ford Focus when you let off the gas. I already don't like people riding my rear end and will slow down on the highway if they try and park on it. I like to be able to actually slow down for stop signs and turns by letting off the gas so really looking forward to my Maverick. I have added those highly reflective red strips to the rear of my Focus and plan on adding them to my Maverick as well. I added them since I was sitting in a parking spot once at night getting some rest when some nut ran into the back of my car and Said I didn't see you sitting there. They outperform the built in reflectors that are part of the tail lights by about 50 times so cheap insurance against blind drivers....

Except, the person driving behind you, actually has to be looking out of their windshield instead of at their phone to see your reflectors.

Distracted driving and both the Maverick and Bronco have popular forums with people posting a common problem. Making it seem as though it’s vehicle related.

My 2025 Lariat that I received a month ago was just rear-ended 😣

Started the claims process an hour ago, I'm in the club now. 😑
Hopefully you didn't bend the undercarriage or you're getting a payout --- Good news is prices are high if total loss - bad news is some idiot wrecked it for you. Been there done that ...

Such a shame - my condolences regardless

-----

So all, I was messing around in the garage and upon driving out noticed something.
When I hit the brake pedal the brake lights come on but after a bit of a delay. Also when letting off the pedal the lights stay on for a bit as well. Saw this in the mirror and reflections in the garage.
My theory is that when you step on the brake the signal has to be sent to the bcm, processed as pedal stepped on then sends signal to lights to turn them on.
It might be happening fast but maybe not fast enough to keep us from being tagged from the back.
Just my assessment and theory. Anyone have any thoughts on this. Check for yourselves, see what you think. I’m an old school driver and used to just hitting the pedal, closing the circuit and boom lights come on. Too much tech sometimes is too much.

My Theory - see it everyday - idiots who think their special -

Willing to bet the driver was talking on their phone.
I have front and rear dashcams, however it was overcast and both inadequate light and a few badly placed raindrops obscure the interior cabin. Still though, a rear-end is pretty open and shut so it doesn't really matter if they were or not.

I love it, when a cop can determine that a driver was traveling well over the speed limit without ever being there.

Sorry that happened to you. It's not a great club to be in.

What a bummer & sorry to hear that.
Happened to me when I bought my first brand new car. Someone rearended me but the car was fixed. In my mind it was never the same and I could see the slight paint difference in the bumper. Was so pissed. The car only had like 5k miles on it.
Hope things work out for you.

On the bright side, all paint repairs should match perfectly as there is no fading. The EG definitely could be a problem otherwise.

It looks as if they can replace that whole side panel with a brand new fresh OEM one. Eliminating any type of pulling, pounding, straightening, heating, cooling or filler.

That, rear bumper and repair tailgate should do it. Does not look like structure rail took hit as bumper is otherwise straight. Even the tail light looks unscathed. Still probably a $5k repair.

Labor is going to be the big one.
Who knows what they'll find once they get into it but I'm saying closer to $10,000.

You know what's funny? I bought a 2004 Saturn Ion new, while driving it someone ran a stop sign and t-boned my rear ¼ panel and tire. The car was only a month or two old. And it happened half a mile from where my 2025 Ford Maverick got rear-ended. They tried to blame me, but I had photos of the location (I had no stop, they did) so they lost that battle. I put a dashcam in my vehicle after that and have had cameras ever since.

The 21 years in between? ABSOLUTELY NO ACCIDENTS. The two times I've been hit in two decades were immediately after getting a new vehicle.
