Will it fit two kayaks with that bed extender. I’ve got a 106 and the wife is getting a pescador 12ft.

I was able to use my bike rack and a couple of pads. This setup made it super easy to load and unload. Next outing I will have two kayaks in the back.

As a cyclist and hiker I advise NOT using these kinds of extenders. I've been nearly decapitated at least twice when some clueless person in a truck-that-has-things-sticking-way-out passes me or turns left. Those things often swing wide. I had one guy who had a load that extended 4 feet to the right of the cab, and who passed me 3 feet to the left. Missed the top of my helmet by inches. He was oblivious - which is a pretty common human state of being.

Frankly this kind of extender is incredibly irresponsible, and I'm surprised they're even legal. Please, if you need to haul something super long, buy a small articulating trailer, or better yet, an elevated rack that lets you place your kayak above the bed and cabin at a safe height, and within the footprint of the truck. The people around you on the road will thank you. And those racks are easy to use, even in advanced age (which is where I'm at).

You ever lift a 100+ pound kayak over your head?

I'm a road cyclist myself and very aware of the swing clearance! Its really the drivers responsibility to be paying attention.

I see what you are cautioning folks about. The rearmost tip of the load will swing wide, outside the lane and could strike objects adjacent to the lane.
I can see that when travelling down a street lined with parked cars, the truck turns left into a driveway and the load will swing wide to the right and contact a car.

One of the many reasons why there are limits to how much a load can extend beyond a vehicle.

Plus, so often someone hauling an extended load (even a trailer) forgets their load is behind them and can not see the length of the extension when driving and cuts others off when passing or slowing for merging traffic, or more important taking a turn at an intersection of traffic light…us motorcycle riders see it often when someone cuts us short and are not even aware of what they did.

Yea, 100 pounds is a lot to lift or even push up onto a roof rack. Valid point.

Still, safe is safe, and unsafe is unsafe. If I had the cash for a small boat trailer, I'd put a long 100+ lb fishing kayak on the trailer instead of the 4.5 foot bed, because the trailer articulates with the turning vehicle and is inherently safe. And a trailer is even a lower lift than the Maverick bed.

But I'm sure the OP is a safe driver and is paying attention in turns. Not my business or intention to go dumping on the OP.

It is nor legal sorry.
search for legal overhang there are limits that are state dependent.
You are in RI
“Rhode Island permits an overhang not exceeding 3 feet to the front and 6 feet to the rear of a truck”

Very jealous of you however... I am local. is that an hybrid?

Well the police here have a lot of work to do. Everyone I fish with who owns a truck has more than 6’ hanging out. Either way I’ve purchased a new kayak which is 10’ so everyone can rest easy.

I ran my harbor freight extender vertical and use a roof rack to haul the 14 foot kayak. Overhang up 6 feet of about 2.5 feet. There is a picture of the rig somewhere in the forum. I pick up the front and set it in the cradle then raise and pus up the back end. Kayak is 50 pounds, but then I'm older now.

Lol. My fishing kayak is an Old Town Sportsman 106. It is 10.5’ long. :)

just picked up the wife’s Perception Pescador Pro 12 this afternoon. We bought a Boonedox T-Bone extender.
