I spoke with my salesman on Monday morning about picking up my recently delivered Maverick XLT. He called back later and said he just found out there was a recall on it and we would have to wait up to three months for parts. Tuesday I decided to go look at it. A salesman said he couldn't find it in the computer and that our salesman wasn't there. A second salesman said it hadn't been delivered because of the recall. I asked for the general manager. He said it was there and he had to go check on it. He came back with our salesman and said it was in the shop with the door off waiting for a drain hose to be delivered. My salesman said I could order another truck. I asked several times to see the truck, but they didn't want me to see it. I checked with a Ford customer service rep when I got home and found there is no recall for my vin. She tried to reach the general manager and the service dept., but no one answered. She left a detailed message with the general manager. I haven't heard anything back. Any guesses as to what is really going on?

There's a recall regarding the fuel injectors on the 1.5L EcoBoost on Escape and Bronco Sport, but it doesn't apply to Maverick. The "resolution" is to install updated ECM/ECU software, and install a drain tube. That doesn't require door removal.

There's a recall for Maverick side-curtain airbags needing replacement on units built through July 9, 2022. Still no "drain hose" and no need to remove doors.

Check the VIN at Ford and NHTSA.

Guess 1. Dealer has sold it to someone else.

Guess 2. Dealer has sold it to someone else.

Guess 3. Damage from shipping or from dealer handling being repaired,

Guess 4. Dealer has sold it to someone else.

No records of a recall, the dealer gave you a nonsensical story about the vehicle being unavailable due to a recall that sounds like one that doesn't even apply to a Maverick (or maybe any Ford). They didn't even show you the vehicle never mind any documentation of this alleged recall.

Welp, tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but unless you can get a better story out of them, sure sounds like the truck is long, long gone. Do provide your VIN to @KevCuRaoi et al to check Ford's internal systems and see what happened... But the chance of them having sold it out from under you is 95%.

Oddly, my week 11/28 build was supposed to be delivered 12/26 through 1/1. I just got a notice from Ford that delivery has been delayed until 2/6 through 2/11. I know it shipped on 12/6 and cleared customs on 12/9.

No idea if this is related or not. I also checked for recalls and found none.

I wonder if they did not already sell it out from under you. Damned crooks.

“We’re waiting on parts for your recall but you can order another truck” is very, very odd...
