Interesting - I wonder what the stud actually is then, imperial or metric? I did notice that my 5/16-18 nuts were not as free spinning as I would have thought they would be when I ran them on by hand.
18 TPI comes out to a thread spacing of 0.5556 in, whereas a 1.25mm pitch converts to 0.0492 in. They should only be cross compatible over a short number of threads depending on the pitch diameter tolerance of the stud and nut. A very tall or close tolerance nut would start to bind.

I purchased the M8 1.25 and the nut would only partially thread and then stopped. Then I went back to Home Depot and exchanged them for the 5/16, and they thread with my finger all the way down.

Finally getting around to doing this + the engine block heater cord relocate myself.

2 questions..

Before I order, anyone got a spare sidewall SAE port? Saw they only come in 2 packs..

And second, how are the stainless jam nuts holding up? Or the zinc ones from OP? Any corrosion, issues?

Looks great. I may try that later. For right now I went cheap and just put a quick connect under the hood. I sneak it out at the seam by the driver's headlight...

Do you leave the plug capped and sticking out all the time or do you open the hood and tuc it in when not in use?

@JAFO - two more questions for you
What was it like drilling through the badge plastic - is it soft(ish) or more brittle? I saw you used a spade bit and I had a mental image of the badge shattering when the bit dug in. That's happened to me drilling holes in some nice plastic planters.
Second question - with the aforementioned small screws holding down the port, do you need to hold it down with your fingers to keep from ripping it out of the badge when you disconnect your charger?
