I guess it is very regional. Out in the western U.S. they are simply called a camper if it is a partially- or fully self-contained living box that goes into the truck bed. A trailer, or travel trailer, is pulled by a vehicle using either a toungue pull or a fifth wheel hitch in the bed of a pickup truck. A popup, or tent, trailer is bumper pulled by a vehicle. But no one out in the western U.S. would ever refer to a trailer or travel trailer as a "camper". Most all dealerships that sell these recreational accommodations have signs saying they sell Trailers "and" Campers , which are two completely different things. What about calling it a caravan? In Europe a trailer is used for hauling garbage, not for people to camp in. It all depends on the different regions, what you call it. I always refer to a "truck camper" as a truck camper. A "camper" is someone who goes camping. N'est-ce pas?
