You ride a Desmo and want something simple :ROFLMAO:?
I ride an air-cooled, carbureted, two-valve-per-cylinder desmodromic L-twin (1995 Ducati 900SS SP). Pretty simple for anyone with at least rudimentary mechanical skills...

Just kidding, no offence intended. I have an Aprilia that has to have the engine removed to set the valves, so I get the interest in weird Italian bikes.

Cheers.

I have been on many muddy job sites recently, and to add insult I got trapped twice behind a brine spray truck, so my Mav was in need of a good wash.

I have a 6-foot extending wash wand with an adjustable head i use to spray under body wheel wells etc., and I pay close attention to the left rear quarter as it is open to the road below.

Today i could not get the water to run clear, so after rinsing the area for 20 minutes I decided to just pull the taillight and flush the area from above. The area was packed with mud, small rocks, and briny crud. Only took a minute to wash it out from above.

Folks in areas with actual winter weather may want to pull that drivers taillight and get that rear quarter cleaned out., and keep a close eye on it.

@Ford Motor Company needs to provide some protection here, a good part of what is cast off from the tire winds up slobbered onto the taillight and up inside that panel. Looks like an awesome recipe for corrosion sooner rather than later.

If you haven't, I encourage you to pull that taillight, less than a minute, and check it out.

Passenger side is rarely dirty at all as it is protected from the wheel well by the storage cubby - so I believe I will add another storage cubby to the drivers side soon.
How long has Ford been making vehicle. . . and nobody thought, hey. . . . ?

You really need splash guards especially on that drivers side rear where there is no plastic faring & you can see all the way to the ground when the tail light is removed. The passenger side has protective plastic faring. The drivers side has the tail pipe in the way. My pics are from the ground looking up. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good light up there for you to see it well (I should've Taken taken the pic with the tail light out), but trust me it's bad. There's a reason there's mud water running down the bottom under the tail light. I did go to car wash & remove the tail light & stick the wand in there & clean out the inside of the quarter panel. This is with no mud flaps yet. And if you are planning on running fender flares there is a little front splash guard from the factory that probably needs removed (at least with my Bushwackers) that stops mud from running along the rocker panels. I am hoping the Bushwackers will seal that area back up. I am also doing a custom splash guard job (on the backside of all 4 tires)with the Bushwackers because my original Ford splash guards will not work/fit with them. I was told by a local aftermarket install shop it was not possible, that they would drag everything down. However, I removed all the plastic body frame clips with good U/female threaded screw clips to get a good tight fit.

I am starting to think these trucks aren't going to do well in the northern salty winter areas because of the folds for strength uni-body construction.

I emptied a solid can and a half of fluid film over two applications and then put the WeatherTech mud flaps on the rear. Still looking pretty good up there while the entire body of my trucklet is caked in salt.

Indeed. It's my real concern with the Maverick after seeing the same image as above within a few weeks of owning mine. Not good for upstate NY winters or anywhere, for that matter.

Even if you don't live where salt is dumped on the roads all winter, the dirt and debris that gets thrown up in there holds moisture and will accelerate rusting. The only two places where rust perforated the body of my Subaru Forester were spots where pine needles had accumulated, unnoticed, and held moisture.

I have xlt so right rear bed cubby comes with it . I modified a left rear mudflap with an extension . I also bought ($45 fordpass points ) cubby for left from dealer . it's same cubby for both sides . should eliminate problem . of course I live in Florida so no road salt . I also don't drive on a beach in salt water like they show in car commercials .
