I love how they doubt you, and instant smackdown with the 700+ reading on the dash.

You still using slippery mode as the default?

edit: Added pic of my work trip I did the other day.

IMG_0550@0.5x.jpg
Slippery every day. Even in the rain. 😉

Short, cold engine trips, sure only about 30 MPG. But then lots of warm engine trips at 70 MPG makes for a decent tank average.

Using the heater vents is a killer. I do that the least possible. The 2 days I had frost on the windows it really bugged the hell out of me to burn gas without the truck moving. I think I will use the garden hose on the truck next time. 😉

Last night: cold engine start and drive home at 48°F. City. Like 12 stoplights. Used heated seats and wheel only. Kept vents off. Net 60 MPG.

Zero to 35 mph or zero to 40 mph depending on zone. No faster than 40.
Low average speed because the clock runs while at stoplights.

Also, I had ZERO engine run time at stoplights. I'm able to get the engine warm (gauge just above the "C") before the first stoplight. If you run the heater vents, it takes a long time to get the gauge off the C.

First significant fill up today, 37.4 MPG. Temps in the 20-30s, lots of heat and remote start. Probably 75% city driving. Can’t wait to see what this is capable of when it warms up. I’m sure that I will see 40s.

Here are the codes to program x-gauges on a scan gauge 2 for the Maverick:
We do have a list of codes that have worked for a Maverick Hybrid. Please give them a try. If you have any questions please let us know.

Great thread guys… you would think that Ford could increase Mileage per Gallon with display of this basic useful information. Prius multitudes of information does help reach better numbers.

I checked my firmware and unfortunately it is 4.1x

When I put in the codes for state of charge I am getting a value, but it is generally under 2 and is 0 when the ICE is not running. That is the only code I have added so far, but it sounds like this firmware will continue to be an issue.
Thanks again for your help.

Where's the gauge that shows how long the line is? You know, the line of drivers behind grandpa electric hyper-mile tearing their hair out.
I think you are missing the point, although I understand it is an easy opportunity for a joke. My number one goal when driving is safety. The best way to do that is to stay away from other drivers...

I find that more often than not I am accelerating more quickly than the traffic around me. You will not find me trying to keep my maverick in EV mode pulling away from a stoplight. But if I am the only one on the road and I am on a road with a speed limit of <35 mph.... maybe.

This thread is about data and monitoring specific data. I am a curious to know more about my vehicle. To each their own!

I am going to try a few more of the X-Codes that @SuperDave71 posted. Maybe I can use some of this information as a proxy for what I want to see. In the meantime I have been using the EV coach screen...

For me, it is more of a "why not?"

I am well aware that this is "nerdy" but this is how I always have been with vehicles. I just love to have the data even if I do nothing with it.

I can't change what the truck does, but I can change how I interact with the truck. ICE Starts and stops are based on the data that the SG reads - it will absolutely correlate to the behavior of the truck. I don't think it is a coincidence that the individual getting the highest MPGs (and 800+ mile tanks) on this forum monitors this information...
You know location has a lot to do with that correct? Depending on the drive and day I saw 60 mpgs on my hybrid whenever I desired.

I creep between 30-40 on highway. I think the main mpg hit is the truck needing to initially warm up to operating temps. I don't think it's too bad once it's already warmed.

Would an engine block heater be of any value even in milder climates during colder weather to enhance MPG's due to a faster lCE warm up?

I wouldn’t bother unless you lived somewhere really cold.
