I’ve got a 2001 Toyota Camry with 216+K on the odometer. I’ve got a 94 Chevy C 1500 work truck with nearly 190K on the odometer. And I would love to have a hybrid truck to replace both of those vehicles that I can use to occasionally haul items from Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. I suspect that many of the people who buy the Ford Maverick hybrid are buying it precisely for those reasons, or perhaps other reasons. Having stated that, I’m wondering if any of you are buying the Maverick in the interim until other competitors get on board, such as – perhaps – – the Toyota Stout, if it ever comes back into existence.
I don’t know if this would be considered a flaming post or not. I’m aware that Consumer Reports is rating the Ford Maverick hybrid and non-hybrid versions higher than the Honda Ridgeline. That’s great, but I’ll be honest here: the long term reliability of Ford versus Japanese makers is a lingering question in the back of my mind. I’m thinking that there are other people who peruse Consumer Reports like I do—hence the reason for this post. Is the Maverick a stopgap measure for you until something else better comes along, or do you intend to keep it for 200K miles?
