That’s funny, I’m the exact opposite. I’ve only driven manuals as a daily driver for the past 32 years. When I get in an auto with the shift lever in the console, I have a habit of shifting from reverse to park thinking I’m going into 1st. The dial is so much different, it is easier for me to...
Hate is a strong word. There is a lot I really like about this little truck and I only had it a short time. Every vehicle has some quirks though. I don’t care for switchblade keys as they tend to open in my pocket. This one isn’t as bad as others I’ve seen. If I can take it apart and put a...
Too many variables for an exact answer. My personal philosophy is to keep my vehicle well taken care of and get as many miles as I can. It is a tool, not an investment so I get my use out of it. I don’t beat my vehicles either. My Wrangler just hit 200K miles and I’m giving it to my daughter. If...
I’ve driven wranglers and motorcycles most of my last 30 years and to be honest, the “wave” got old for me a long time ago. If people start, that’s cool, but I doubt I’d wave back. That may be because I’m becoming more of an old grumpy guy each year.
Condition, mileage, mechanical, and cost are the most important things to look for when buying used. Most people won’t prioritize color. It is important to people it’s just not top of list. The Jeep Wrangler guys get intense with their threads on color options but you won’t see Jeeps selling...
I don’t get emails. Had to check with Ford Chat. Was actually planning my backup option (hybrid CRV) not expecting to get scheduled due to how many orders the dealer had. I’m looking forward to the Maverick.

The most reliable vehicles I have owned were American: dodge, Jeep, and Ford. Required the least amount of repairs after running them 150k - 200k miles. My least reliable was Honda and Subaru. They were good cars and I ran them over 150k miles but they needed a lot more repairs along the way...
I upgraded my Wrangler with LED lights and was sure to get the ones with the heating element for this reason. The extra cost was worth it to me for these situations even if I’m only caught in weather like that once a year. Most LED lights I have seen don’t have the heating elements.
The water...
So that is what my Maverick (when I get it) will look like next to my Ram 2500. I don’t have a Power Wagon though since I actually tow with that truck.
I spray the underside of my Wrangler each fall with Fluid Film. It stays wet so water and dirt can’t get behind it. After 9 salt filled winters and nearly 200k miles I have no rust forming.
It can be a messy solution that some may not like but it does work.
I ultimately made the switch to Ecoboost. I drive mostly highway miles but AWD was the biggest factor. I was a little skeptical of going hybrid FWD on the first place to be honest.
I wasn’t seeing many options on the market that fit what I am looking for until I came across the Maverick. The...
The right tires for the situation are always key as mentioned.
just my 2 cents for what I have witnessed since not all sand is the same. I have seen every type of vehicle get stuck in the soft white sand along the gulf coast (pan handle). AWD and the like. Mostly tourists who tried to park off...
I really like most of the color lineup but I cannot pass on Cyber Orange. I have a Baja Yellow Wrangler now and I joke with my family about only buying yellow vehicles from now on. Orange tint in the yellow gives it more of a warmer feel vs just being bright.
My daily driver is a 2015 Wrangler which now has 180,000 miles on it. I have a 100 mile round trip for work so I rack up the miles. Jeep runs great and has been my most dependable vehicle to date. I’m giving it to my daughter when she starts to drive. I’ll have to teach her to drive a manual. A...
