I plan on keeping mine as long as its drivable. That said I got you beat I daily (short) drive a 91 comanche with a floppy steering wheel and a mix match of parts including the motor build that consists of parts from the 80s and 2000s mashed together. My long weekly drives are in a 96 Bronco with 210,000mi with ever creeping rust and the latest on my list fix of drivers window tried to fall out. My wife daily drives a 93 Grand Cherokee with roof rust holes and 208,000mi.

But our Maverick is scheduled and it will be awesome to have it and take care of it for a long time.
I don’t mind getting beat on longevity. I always enjoy meeting someone even more frugal than I am. I tip my hat to you, sir.

The Mav is a great vehicle at a great price. Unfortunately, mine is in the shop with a check engine light and recall after only 13,000 miles. I guess I can’t eat my cake and have sex with it too or something like that.
Can’t remember ever having sex with a cake. But please do get back with me on the check engine light and what repair was needed.

I shopped several while I waited. Thankfully, the Honda and Santa Fe dealers are a greedy lot. I refused to go drive something with thousands over MSRP. I’m glad I waited.
May I inquire as to what trim you got, the options, and what you paid? If that’s too invasive to your privacy, my apologies. I’m just trying to see if any negotiation tactics are possible, though that seems highly unlikely with a hot seller like this.

The most reliable vehicles I have owned were American: dodge, Jeep, and Ford. Required the least amount of repairs after running them 150k - 200k miles. My least reliable was Honda and Subaru. They were good cars and I ran them over 150k miles but they needed a lot more repairs along the way.

I don’t put stock in consumer reports and would not be concerned about the Ford Maverick personally.
Interesting anecdote. I put 235K on a Nissan Altima, 220K on an Infiniti i30, and will likely have over 220K on the Camry by the time the Maverick becomes available. The Camry most recently had the dreaded catalytic converter repair. Expensive. 🙄

There was like seven movies about it. You know, American Cake.

I agree with that. Definitely need to buy something else, or the forum will continually hear complaints. I would look for ANYTHING that is foreign since there seems to be an affinity for them.
As I indicated to Ford Truck Guy, I’m not one to complain. I own my decisions (and mistakes). And I find forums useful for technical issues encountered. Guess I’m making friends and having a positive impact! 😏

I learned to drive on a '87 ford. I escaped my wedding in a '37 ford. I've driven a Tacoma, Sienna, civic, and a CR-V into the 200K range before they stopped.

I'm pleased to have a Maverick. I just got it. But that's because my CRV's transmission fell out on the road along with the brakes, AC, dash lights, and windshield fluid reservoir.

I wish the CRV would have lasted long enough for me to see what competition comes out from Toyota, Dodge, Nissan, etc. But it didn't.
Actually, I've needed a small truck for about 5 years. The Maverick is first to reopen the class - and I'm thankful to get one. I see the Japanese vehicles as a welcome addition to the class. It looks like Ford got the jump on everyone - and we shall see if the maverick can live up to my experiences with the '87 and '37.

I’ve got a 2001 Toyota Camry with 216+K on the odometer. I’ve got a 94 Chevy C 1500 work truck with nearly 190K on the odometer. And I would love to have a hybrid truck to replace both of those vehicles that I can use to occasionally haul items from Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. I suspect that many of the people who buy the Ford Maverick hybrid are buying it precisely for those reasons, or perhaps other reasons. Having stated that, I’m wondering if any of you are buying the Maverick in the interim until other competitors get on board, such as – perhaps – – the Toyota Stout, if it ever comes back into existence.

I don’t know if this would be considered a flaming post or not. I’m aware that Consumer Reports is rating the Ford Maverick hybrid and non-hybrid versions higher than the Honda Ridgeline. That’s great, but I’ll be honest here: the long term reliability of Ford versus Japanese makers is a lingering question in the back of my mind. I’m thinking that there are other people who peruse Consumer Reports like I do—hence the reason for this post. Is the Maverick a stopgap measure for you until something else better comes along, or do you intend to keep it for 200K miles?
We bought a 2017 Honda CR-V new random problems with infortainment and shifter broken after like 3k miles. 2 battery swaps because they kept failing. My accountants 2018 CR-V bought new was in the shop multiple times with oil leak issues. Toyota tundra brand new with turbo wastegate issues. Had an Acura legend was bulletproof. They don't make Japanese cars like they used to. Japanese tax you would be paying could buy you an extended warranty on the Maverick that covers it up to 150k miles I think it was. No better value than that. Our Honda warranty stopped at 3 years 36k miles we were lucky to get rid of it to CarMax last year and netted $10k. Rolled into their inspection bay with the gas light on and bald tires lol. After the issues I had with my new Honda and seeing what happened to my accountants Honda I'm more open minded to all vehicles. Modern vehicles generally last as long as their maintained and as mentioned before Ford knows trucks but the hybrid system that was developed with Toyota can't hurt either.

Sorry you had all those problems. And to your point, I’ve not bought a new generation Japanese vehicle for a long time.
