The Maverick brought back a category (small truck) that the market was lacking. The small SUV category is so crowded, I don't see the point.

Looks great! Reminds me of a mix between a bigger 2012 Escape and Dodge Durango.

You are right. IIRC when the Flex was first in concept stage, they called it "the fairlane", and it was going to be a practical, economical station wagon. It turned into another SUV, 16 mpg in the city, $45,000 price tag. Not what I wanted anyway. If you're going that big, make it a real truck (like my Expedition), give it a lot of towing cpacity, etc.
I think it also clogged up Ford's SUV offerings: Flex, Edge, Explorer, Escape, Expedition?? in my mind, it was a lot of overlapping features.
For me, it really comes down to the fact that we don't have STATION WAGONS any more. Those of us who grew up in larger families in the 60s and 70s saw how practical and flexible the station wagon was. THAT'S what I miss.
100%. Bring on the wood paneled Maverick Wagon.

Honda Pilot has 3 rows and is 3" shorter in length than the Maverick. Maverick is only considered compact because it is a truck, it's actually not small compared to modern SUV's. a compact SUV with a 3rd row would be nearly impossible to pull off.
Well yes and no. The Maverick is still significantly narrower than most midsize SUVs. It would kinda end up between an escape and explorer, but with more utility than both.

I actually considered the Honda Pilot before going with the Maverick. The main issue I had with the pilot is with the seats folded down you cannot get a sheet of 4x8 material in the back flat on the floor. Oddly enough the older generation Pilot you could fit 4x8 sheets between the wheel wells.

Why not just cancel your order then? Not everybody feeds off negativity and some choose to try and see the positive.
Seeing the positive with my eyes wide open versus with blinders on. You need to be more open to contrasting opinion. Isn’t that one of the reasons for having this and other forums. As a “F” stock holder my MAV will be the fourth Ford in my driveway. I not only have the right to have and express my opinion but to also vote as a share holder. So please continue stating your opinion as i am interested in hearing it and i will continue to voice mine. God Bless America.

No matter what the badge, it's longer (more interior capacity) and hybrid. I think there would be a market for a 40ish MPG mini three row SUV.
That might actually be a great idea. Our son has 2 kids in carseats and a much much larger kid wearing a seatbelt. A economically priced hybrid SUV with 3 row seating would be an attractive option for his family.

Looks a little too much like an updated Dodge Journey.

Yeah but you’re not covering any new ground here. Everyone has seen posts like yours and guess what? We are all waiting, many of us are shareholders and some of us veterans too. Nobody’s standing in the way of you sharing your opinion and that works both ways too, right? If others feel like your opinion sounds like a whine, then folks are free to say that too. But at the end of the day, when it’s your turn, it’s your turn and Ford will make your order. Good luck and God bless!

And it's not a hybrid.

Personally, I'd like to see Ford come out with a vehicle similar to the Honda Element with a hybrid or Ecoboost. There was a utilitarian beauty to the Element...rear seats were removable, no carpet, AWD was an option, and it serves as an overlander and/or single person's apartment in these bleak financial times. Perfect dog/camping SUV. I once Tetris'ed an entire living room of furniture into mine. Bought mine for $20K back in the day. Now THAT is something I could fully get behind.

Took the words out of my brain.
Have a Hybrid on order for delivery in 3 weeks but still fighting with myself whether I should keep my Honda Element....24 mpg, so much room, rear seats pop out in 5 minutes, AWD, and would not need a tonneau cover.

How many miles do you have on your Element? What year is it? If you feel so inclined, you can "gift" me your Element and I'll cancel my Maverick order. LOL!

155K, Yr 2004, still runs like the day I bought it. Selling or giving it away would be like getting rid of a favorite hunting hound.
