The recall fix is out and here are some facts you need to know about it. Before the recall can be performed, your battery needs to be at 100% charge. The recall takes 1 hour to perform using the FDRS tool. With this in mind, give your dealer time to perform them and schedule them. We will be 2 weeks out to schedule one at our dealership because we have 86 Mavericks that will need to be done first. These can be done via mobile service, which we will be able to do for our customers within 30 miles of the dealership.

I will doing a video for our Maverick Monday video series going over this and our 2024 Maverick inventory that now is available to sell as of today.
As usual, you provide the information we need in a timely fashion! Thank you!

What makes you say sudden Influx?
My local dealership has 18 MY24 Mavericks. Only two are not impacted by this recall. So, once they clear out their recall fixes, they will have 16 Mavericks suddenly ready to sell assuming they are not customer orders.

And this is a dealership in the 13th largest city in Alabama. Multiply that by 3,000 dealerships and that is a lot of trucks about to hit the market.

Best bet is to call your dealer and find out. I'm sure we will get letters from Ford Canada, but they likely won't show up until April.

Of course the fix comes out a week after my last appointment. 🤣
Same here. I just had my yearly state inspection last Monday!

I think this is an important part to emphasize. Any trucks with a stop-delivery will be handled first. I know when they finally released the fix for my Explorer, my dealership didn't even bother calling customers to schedule until all of the vehicles on the lot were handled first.

Also. if you are in the market for Maverick, there will be a sudden influx of MY24s come available real soon.
I understand from a dealer perspective why they'd want to focus on these stale '24's so they can get them sold. But I think its crap that the manufacturer allows their support network to focus on unsold vehicles over already delivered vehicles with a potential safety defect.

I was at my dealer at 1pm yesterday getting work done on my 2020 escape and saw on here the Mav recall fix was out. Showed the service manager about it and he said that it wasn't true because he was hearing chat about it being more than just a software patch. They have 5 24's on the lot and the 25's go out as soon as they come in.. When the Escape was done at 2pm, he came to me and said, "wow, your peeps were right, when do want to schedule the Maverick? MTC rocks!

Yes, but this is a stop-delivery, not a stop-driving recall. A stop-driving recall would have a higher priority for customers and dealerships would likely reach out for mobile service the moment they are allowed. The last recall my truck had, the dealership called me and had me on the mobile service schedule within a day of the recall being released.

For this recall, the vehicles on the lot are easier to get on the schedule as they are on the lot. So, some dealerships will focus on those first before reaching out to customers. But that doesn't mean they won't fix yours if you happen to show up and they have a hole in their service schedule.

Even when they do start outreach, it will take a while to get customers scheduled to come in. So, there is no reason to not have their garage do the ones on the lots while the service center schedules customers to come in or for mobile service.

If they take 90 minutes a piece, my dealer can get all 16 of theirs done in less than a week only doing one at a time. Larger garages with multiple techs will clear out inventory in a couple days, likely before most customers will even be available to come in to get it fixed or get a mobile service scheduled.

I got the recall notification a while back but have experienced no problems, should I still look to have this done?

I haven't had any problems with my camera. The unfortunate chain of events when Ford has an update, is the up date comes out and customers start getting it done. At a certain time frame, some goofy things start happening, perhaps the right rear tire falls off? Or, maybe the headlights quit working... Rah-Ro. Think I'll just wait a few months and see how things progress.
