Only on 24 below xl and xlt’s

all lariats and all 25 models can be sold

Which is why people are upset, if they can’t buy an 24 xl or xlt on lots, they need a 25 which are mostly sold day they hit lots

2 groups of people, those waiting on 25s which would affect by tariffs

24 and below are already here so no issue for them. Just can’t buy due to recall.

You now have a one month reprieve. The tariff will not be imposed until March at the earliest.
Get 'em while they're hot.

The tariffs go into effect on Tuesday at 12:01AM
Trump just announced a 30 day pause with Mexico and they agreed to send 10,000 Mexican National Guard to our Southern border. Mexico will negotiate other trade policies with the US. It’s called “The Art of the Deal”. I expect the Ford CEO to bring back more manufacturing to the US.

Yep, just pick up the Hermosillo plant and drop it in Nogales just across the boarder. Very simple process to accomplish, I bet they can do it in 4-6 weeks.
The Escape line is in Louisville. It's a C2 platform car like the Maverick. They're planning on discontinuing the Escape anyway. They could convert the line to Maverick production. Yes, in 4-6 weeks.

I don't like the idea of discontinuing the Escape, but if they insist on doing it, make Mavericks there instead.

Lol you think ford is going to just eat a 25% cost increase..it will be passed to the consumer.
Prices to consumers will increase, just not by 25%. Even if the entire truck including components was manufactured in Mexico, cost does not equal retail price. Dealers have costs that have to be covered, there are transit costs, etc.

  1. Tariff on Added Value (Not the Whole Product Price): As you pointed out, the tariff applies to the value added in the assembly process (the $8,000), not the full value of the parts ($12,000) that are transferred from the US to Mexico. This is because the tariff is applied based on the final value of the goods as they are exported from the assembly country back to the US. In this case, Mexico’s contribution is the $8,000 for assembly, and that's what gets taxed.
  2. Transfer Charges and Tax Optimization: The mention of "Transfer Charges" refers to how companies like Ford might set prices for parts when shipping across borders. They can manipulate these figures to minimize their overall global tax exposure, which is a common strategy for multinational corporations. The price for parts in one country (like the US) can be set higher or lower than the actual production cost to shift profits across jurisdictions with different tax rates.
  3. Impact on Final Consumer Price: When it comes to the consumer price of a finished product, like the Ford vehicle, the final price doesn't automatically rise by the full 25% tariff on the MSRP. The manufacturer (Ford, in this case) will likely absorb some of that cost, especially if it's not a massive price increase. Consumers might see a smaller price hike, or no increase at all, depending on how much the manufacturer is willing to eat into their margin.
  4. Non-US Parts and Purely Foreign Goods: When a good doesn’t contain any US parts and is completely foreign (like the Canadian softwood example), the tariff is applied to the value stated on the Customs Declaration from the exporting country. The cost for the tariff is based on the entire value of the goods from that country to the US, which might make the final price higher if those goods have a higher proportion of value added in the exporting country.
This kind of system means tariffs are a bit more nuanced than just a simple tax on the product’s final price—it’s all about where and how value is added along the supply chain. Would you say this explanation aligns with your understanding of how these types of tariffs work?

Just read a news report that the tariff on Mexico will be delayed 30 days. Maybe a deal is in the works?

I have said this on many stories about this on many sites and I don't like to get too political or too opinionated u on this site because I like it. I will say that if he's using it as a bargaining tool to get Canada and Mexico to do their part to secure borders, then I'm all for it. Mexico agreed to send people to the border, we agreed apparently, according to the Mexican lady, to stop the flow of guns going into Mexico and the tariffs were put off for a month. Why a month? Probably because he wants to see if they're actually going to hold to it. Now if the tariffs are put in play anyway regardless of what Mexico and Canada do then I would get upset.

It is laughable to think the flow of drugs will stop. Walgreens got sued just a few weeks ago for filling MILLIONS of illegal opioid prescriptions in the USA, beginning in 2012. And we worry about drugs at the border?

According to mama google search, the Maverick earns the distinction of being the least American made pickup sold in America. And the exact quote is that only 26% of the parts for the Maverick are made in the USA and CANADA. They count Canadian made parts in that 26%. The Hybrid's engine is made in Mexico BTW.

The Maverick is gonna get the full brunt of tariffs. And the Maverick is Ford's LEAST EXPENSIVE new vehicle sold in America. It's wishful thinking to believe Ford takes a haircut - of any amount - on it's least expensive product. Maybe they take a hit on the $50,000+ trucks, but not on the ones 1/2 that price.

Additionally - there isn't really any competition to consider with the Maverick. What else are you going to buy if looking for a small pick up truck? The odd looking Santa Fe is the only real alternative - and it's already thousands more and cannot be had in hybrid. MOST of the time when people on this forum decide to buy something different - it's the Ford Ranger (which will also go up in price, Half the parts come from somewhere else). That's fine with Ford.
The most likely scenario is lets say this tariff increases the cost of a Maverick by $5000, Ford is not going to eat any of the tariff & they should not. This will put the Maverick closer to a Ranger price, so the price of the Ranger will go up 4-5K, but that starts putting it closer to entry F150's, so those will also go up 4-5K, essentially it will be the law of unintended consequences that will cost the consumers dearly.
