You know what this means, right? It means Ford is FINALLY getting ready to delivery the Mavericks to dealers and sell them to us, the ones WE ordered., the ones our friends are going to stand in awe as we drive past them showing off our boldness for being the first to own and call The Maverick ours. (Now that only works if the Maverick has no 1st gen issues, otherwise our friends will be driving past US pointing and laughing, and not in the good way:) just kidding;) May we all have our ordered Mavericks soon and drive them with joy:)

how intelligent is it to have a $400+/mo payment when you lose your job, have a major medical bill not covered by insurance, get a divorce, stock market crashes, or the economy goes to shit? What about qualifiying for a new house loan where they examine your income to debt ratios? What you think is a free ride instantly turns to a big liability.
Nearly a view of my life right now: " $400+/mo payment - no job, have a major medical bill not covered by insurance, get a divorce, stock market crashes, or the economy goes to shit
Where did you find this graphic???? please provide the site link?

After reviewing this, and other comments in this thread, I went to the FORD site and only see these options currently available / listed:

Why would you pay cash on a car, when you can get 36 months zero interest? Put that money somewhere where it can build compound interest. Let that money make you money.
That's my plan. I could afford cash without a problem. The way I see it is if the interest is below the rate of return on my investment account, it only makes sense to finance. And being where I am, I am Tier 1, so if that 0%/36mo is the offer, mine will have some portion financed at the end of the day. If not though, it depends on the rate offer :).

Because I can. We are seniors on (mostly) fixed incomes and make a priority of keeping our monthly expenses as low as possible- and stable as possible so no surprises in our budget. We don't need to build credit or retirement accounts and only financed item is our house. Ca$h is King!
Then I would take the Maverick cash and put it towards the principal on the house which I am sure you carry at least a 2.5% rate on ... and finance the car at 0%.

What about the cost of insurance when you finance? If you pay cash you won’t be required to have anything more than the minimum required by law, but I haven’t seen any financing that doesn’t require much more than that.

Cool. Which site can I use to see that?
I use Annual Credit Report.com since it's free for all 3, no need to sign up.
Its a bit different, but you can dispute anything on your credit reports.

Some advice:
1. Don't close credit accounts unless you have to. - this reduces your total credit line and can make the debt-to-credit ratio go higher which reduces your score.
2. Just because it's "closed" doesn't mean it should be removed. Removing these could also remove good payment history and also negatively hurt your score.
3. Review past address and name information. If you see addresses and names you did not use, get that fixed ASAP. (I note this specifically because someone opened a loan using my SSN back in the 90s and this is how I found it before it became a problem a few months later when I got a mortgage).

And all 3 (TransUnion, EquiFax, Experian) all have info on their sites for other ways to clean up your reports.

This varies by state. Where I live, you have to carry comprehensive on any vehicle under 3 years old regardless of how it's paid for, so a 0%/36mo plan doesn't have a different price. Your state may vary though and make it worth it to pay cash.

Sure, but it's not a good idea to skimp on the coverage that covers your brand new asset. It's usually a relatively small amount of the overall coverage anyway.

You must not be married. My wife is my equal partner on all joint finances for things like the house payment and common bills. She doesn't want to do extra house payments right now. end of story. On the other hand, my toys are my sole responsibility including expenses like purchases. The Maverick purchase won't be tied to our common expenses, and is a "want" purchase instead of a "need" purchase and I am fortunate enough to afford it without financing. Neither of us wants hard inquiries on our credit reports and that is what you get every time you apply for credit. I'm also planning on a couple other toy purchases in the near future and these will be cash as well. I sleep better at night knowing exactly how much I/We owe, and the less owed the better is how we approach things.

Where are you getting these rates? I seen these rates on the build page but they were only good until 10/4.

I am married and my wife is an accountant :) ... and we share ALL expenses including my toy expenses.

Also According to FICO, a hard inquiry from a lender will decrease your credit score five points or less. If you have a strong credit history and no other credit issues, you may find that your scores drop even less than that.

I understand your situation however.

Yes. They are the current rates (our best available info). They were already extended once. I'm assuming Ford will extend them again.

Some of you might be asking the same question regarding if you should go with your credit union/Bank or Ford financing. If I apply at my credit union for a loan and let's say it's approved for 2.1%, but I want to see if I can get a better rate with Ford; would the 1st affect my credit score on the 2nd application? For anyone who cares to answer. Thanks.

My guess is the new program starts on 10-4 about when new Maverick's will be delivered to customers.
