The only vehicle I ever owned with drive modes was my 1990 Ford probe GT. Which adjusted the suspension. I've been curious about the drive modes in the Maverick as well.

My experience with the drive modes on my Honda Accord Hybrid
Sport-- dashboard lites up red, sound piped through the speakers is loud.
normal-- still loud when you stomp on the gas.
eco-- the air conditioner is anemic.

Something I noticed on both my wife's CR-V and my old Accord: eco mode makes a big difference when using cruise control. A lot of cars freak out when they go up a hill and the speed drops a bit--they immediately downshift and rev up really high to get to the target speed and it can be a bit jarring. When I turn on eco mode, it chills out a little and when the speed drops a bit it tries to gradually resume full speed without downshifting (though it will downshift if that doesn't work). It's just a little more relaxed about it.

On long trips I really prefer cruise control with eco mode turned on, and then I flip it back off when I exit the freeway. Cruise control still works fine, but you get better gas milage and it doesn't feel like your car is so high strung.

I hope the Maverick eco mode does something similar to cruise control.

SO now that all these trainers are everywhere and we're starting to see videos......can someone please look at a FX4 in person and confirm which drive modes come with it? I'm trying to verify if the FX4 still has slippery mode.

After reading through this I am confused on what mode I should be driving in. I drive in "normal" mode since this is the mode it is in when I start it. What's the best mode for fuel mileage? I would think "normal" since that's the standard setting. I cant imagine having to change the mode every time I drive.

Is there a way to set the default mode? I'd prefer it just stay in eco mode all the time.

It also keeps trailer sway option enabled and I don't even own a trailer. I do plan to look in the manual tomorrow.
