Maverick could be Slate Killer

The Maverick is 3x the truck. You even get a spare tire thrown in.

And honestly -- what do you think the Slate's average transaction price will be? My money is on $32-33k after people add stuff/some want 4 seats.

Maverick can be had with way more stuff....4 usable seats AND a truck bed for what is essentially equal money.

And I bet the slate has a range near 100 miles in cold weather/being used as a truck. Maverick hybrid probably a 300+ mile range under the same conditions.

Maverick hybrid will only lose about 4 or 5 miles of range per cold start.

Only many short trips in a row are a bummer. If you just start once and go a long distance, the Hybrid will go 500+ miles on a tank (in winter).

I have a Maverick. I have an F-250. I have 2 $300 reservations in for Slate, but I'm waiting for them to formally add the cargo option to their configurator. I'll probably sell my Explorer if/when the cargo box is a reality. In 2021, many thought the Maverick was a losing proposition too. Thankfully the Hermosillo factor had been rehabbed to handle Maverick/BS demand.

Many people will buy a Slate because it is cheap and garners attention. Once they live with it, they will realize it's ugly grey plastic, is equiped like a Yugo and has no real repair centers to deal with items other than brakes and misaligned trim.
it's not really worth the money they are asking.

Unfortunately, Slate went with total EV route instead of the hybrid. With winter closing in, I wonder how many people in the frozen North will be pulling the plug on the Slate.

Brakes, In the video Brian didn’t use them… just the heavy regen. I won’t buy one, just like I won’t go back to my similarly equipped 60s and 70s Beetles for a daily driver. I think it would be very difficult in modern times to upend the Yugo for worst vehicle. Slate is not a Yugo, but it’s also not a Maverick.

I agree, although nothing should be compared to the Yugo. Slate is more like the Citicar if you want to compare stripped down EVs.

Maybe bolt a bed to the back?
