Mine sticks as well. The work around seems to be to push in on it at the normal spot, then push up on the back of it, on the side closest to the windshield, at which point it will pop open. On another note, I have been confused on why there is not a removable insert at the bottom of the two cup holders in between the front seats like I have had in every other car I have ever owned that had cupholders in that location. I looked around on a ford parts schematic and found an insert, part number NZ6Z6013562AA that I can source for somewhere between $85 and $120, which looks right in the drawings but I can't find a photo of it anywhere. Can anyone see if they have a removable rubber insert at the bottom of the cup holders, maybe mine got left out somehow?

I do not have one but I use car cup coasters. Very cheap and absorbent for spills.

Mine wouldn't close because the push function popped out. I put some super glue on it to keep the tab in place. Some glue got in the mechanism and now it won't open. I broke it but I usually put my glasses behind the radio.

Good thing I don't use sunglasses. My Escape has the sunglass holder, I don't think I've used it once. I'll have to check and see if it even opens.

Same vehicle as you, color and all. I had the complete opposite thing happen.
The black pincher clip fell out and I couldn't close the sunglass lid compartment.
I found it, reinstalled it, but now have completely lost faith in that compartment.

Ford should pay for sunglass rental until you can gain access to your compartment. Check with your state lemon laws and it is a good idea to review the UN Declarations of Human Rights. This could be an issue for the International Court of Justice at the Hague.

It has been raining since i took delivery of my Maverick. Yesterday it was 90+ degrees and the SUN was shining. After washing my (Area 51, Hybrid, Lux, 360) truck I decided to take a spin. When i returned home I realized that my sunglass compartment would not open.

sunglass compartment? is that a joke or did i miss it? I have a truck that has one and i wish the mav did.

My eye glasses auto darken. I will likely use the hole from the sunglasses holder for a switch panel of some sort.

Mine was doing that too, guessing the heat has something to do with it.

Took a piece of Sonic straw wrapper and used it to increase the pressure fit - mission accomplished! ...for now.
