I don't think the car I was putting on the solar charger had a BMS, but my buddy had a 1969 Camaro and it for sure did not have a BMS. Definitely disappointing when the car would not start.
Well without any more info it is impossible to say if it was user error or some other issue like not getting enough sun along with a parasitic draw being greater.

Ya. The Camaro was a best case. No fancy engine electronics. It did have a radio that may have used some power when off but nothing else. Solar still did not work. But maybe it will get better with time, new models will come out that work better.

Folks ! i will not have the option of being able to plug into power ! i only have mother nature to assist me !
I am getting the drift that i should disconnect the negative post of the battery and hook the charger to it ! will this effect any of my settings ! the disconnect scares me a bit ! with a trickle charger it should be okay ??
As you stated above.
Without access to power only Mother Nature (post #11)
How are you going to hook a trickle charger to it ? 🤔

All I can add is whatever method is used solar, trickle, etc. you have to pass the current through the BMS sensor not behind it on the negative terminal post. It has be a metal ground on the chassis or engine block where you hook your negative to. If you don't do this what will happen is the BCM won't be able to determine the charge level. If anything it might see it as discharging and tell the BMS to shut off systems like auto / start stop when it shouldn't and with hybrids put them into deep sleep mode prematurely.

With that said you are not S.O.L. since you can reset the BMS manually and the those settings which in turn the BCM will be able to relearn the actual state of the battery. Learn how to manually reset the BMS sensor, make sure what you read actually works by doing it once then print out those instructions and keep them in the glove box just in case.

I am parking my hybrid out doors in Vermont 9/25-10/20. I plan to hook up my solar charger I use on my riding mower.
I am going to run the wires up through the engine bay and connect to the under hood jump connections. I will mount the panel nearly vertical to a small wooden bench next to the truck. I usually have it mounted vertically to the wall of my shed that I store the mower in.

OP good luck with whatever you come up with.

Read page 311 in the owners manual.
https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...-Owners-Manual-version-1_om_EN-US_07_2021.pdf

Key points.
...We recommend that you disconnect the
negative battery cable terminal from the
battery if you plan to store your vehicle for
an extended period.
Note: If you only disconnect the negative
battery cable terminal, make sure it is
isolated or placed away from the battery
terminal to avoid unintended connection or
arcing....

...Battery Sensor Reset
When you install a new battery, reset the
battery sensor by doing the following:
1. Switch the ignition on, and leave the
engine off.
Note: Complete Steps 2 and 3 within 10
seconds.
2. Flash the high beam headlamps five
times, ending with the high beams off.
3. Press and release the brake pedal three
times.
The battery warning lamp flashes three
times to confirm that the reset is
successful...

...
After battery replacement, or in some
cases after charging the battery with an
external charger, the battery management
system requires eight hours of vehicle sleep
time to relearn the battery state of charge.
During this time, your vehicle must remain
fully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note: Prior to relearning the battery state
of charge, the battery management system
may temporarily disable some electrical systems....

So to summarize best bet is to just disconnect the negative cable and make sure it doesn't touch anything it shouldn't.

Whatever you do
Make sure you have one of those lithium jump packs in the car. I find they hold a charge for a while will allow you to jump start if needed.

Maybe not. Be very careful
This is my second Schumacher charger.
This one is a replacement for my first one which did the same identical thing. Schumacher is supposed to be a reputable brand.
I kept it stored under the rear seat.
Never used it except for the flashlight and to charge a phone.
