@TheSEARCH what does your block off panel look like? Could you share some photos and details for us?
There are two threads on this already. Go to this thread for dimensions of sheet metal. First cut it out of cardboard . Test fit make any adjustments then cut it out of galvanized sheet metal. Not sure on how thick I had it already. Paint it. Then install. I rust proofed it after with Fluid Film. Spray bottom then I removed the cubby whole inside pick up bed on side sprayed it from top side.
12 th post down has dimensions

My 22 Hybrid Maverick just hit 100k. I'm guessing not high enough or old enough for your definition of Longevity/long term. So far so good. Practically problem free. It replaced a 2010 Toyota with 465k miles.
I, too, had a 2000 Taurus wagon. That was a great family car. Sold it to my brother at 230k miles who drove it for another 30k when he said it developed a leak that was too expensive to fix.
I will be driving this Maverick until it won't drive anymore.
Good to hear. Sounds like you drive a lot...be interested to hear how things progress

I would suggest considering a Ranger 2010 or older. Those are pretty much the same size as the Maverick. There is nothing fancy but they run forever and are dependable and easy to repair.

As far as Mav longevity goes it’s still a guess. I had a ā€˜22 Hybrid and in the first month I told myself this model is not going to age well. Too many issues with recalls, fit, finish, rattles, paint battery and electronics. I figured in 5 years it would land in Consumer Reports ā€œWorst Used Cars to Avoid.ā€ When a car is a rattle trap right off the lot, it isn’t going to get better. And mine rattled a lot. The fit of the doors and body left something to be desired and again, those are only going to get worse. Then throw in the battery issues and electronics and you have a car just waiting to drive you nuts in 5 years.

I do have a 2024 EB that was shipped this week because I do like the truck and I think the third model year should have most of the kinks worked out. But even so, this will be on a 3 year trial and I will get rid of it in a second if it comes up with problems close to the three year warranty term. If I do keep it it will be the first vehicle that I will definitely buy an extended warranty on. I’ve never done that before. But I don’t drive as much anymore and won’t have 36,000 miles on it in three years and I expect problems to start happening around that time. But I take very good care of my vehicles and won’t be putting lots of stressful miles on the engine and in that situation I think it could be a good secondary ten year vehicle. I don’t think I would purchase it as my primary vehicle if I was doing lots of miles on it. I just don’t think these are going to hold upwell for ten years overall.
I have the same 3 year plan. I won't buy the extended warrantee until I know I'll keep the truck. I need a dependable truck. We will see. Of course this all depends on IF my truck is ever delivered. Going on 1 1/2 years now. I chose the wrong dealer. The wait has soured me on the brand and the maverick.
