Just did a 2000 mile road trip using ACC and the lane centering on the lariat lux and 100% agree with the above post that this makes long drives more relaxing.

this is a drive I’ve done yearly and this was by far the least amount of driving fatigue I’ve-experienced. I had ACC on my last vehicle which is an essential for me now but the ability to turn on the advanced lane centering is amazing.

we ended up using this combo 90% of the time I’d say. Most of the time you keep your hands on the wheel but the car actually does most of the driving. because the car is keeping you between the lanes you can look around a bit instead of 100% locked on the road, reducing eye fatigue. You can also take your hands off the wheel completely for 30 seconds to drink water or lightly stretch.

it’s definitely not self driving as you don’t ever fully disengage attention but it is a comfortable step between that really helps on a long drive.

my wife is technology averse and was fully converted by the end of our trip.

Thank you for the review. I am waiting on my Lariat + Lux to be built. I have never driven with this tech but look forward to having it.

Adaptive cruise worked wonderfully on my 1600 round trip to PA. The vehicle will brake itself to keep distance. I will say this though you will get better mpg with adaptive cruise control off, around 1.5 mpg from my testing on the long trip.
Used adaptive cruise 800 miles up and regular cruise 800 miles back.

If you remove your hands from the wheel it will drift slightly from side to side between the lines. Then it will warn to to put your hands back on the steering wheel.

Just drove 1000 miles using adaptive cruise control on my First Edition. Truck drove itself basically the entire way, even through rain, snow, and fog. Kept within the lanes, followed curves, braked/slowed down when coming up on slower or braking vehicles, and accelerated back to the set speed once the coast was clear. Very impressed by the technology and very grateful for the feature on a long drive.

I wonder if they will ever develop a Michigan version of lane centering that includes pot hole avoidance?

For me this is the same as the BLIS and backup alert stuff. It's a crutch. But for some of the drivers out there that drive so poorly the car may do a better job than they do I guess it's not so bad.

That would be a game changer for sure. The MPHA system.

For all those with experience with these technologies, can you answer a question(s) for me?

I log 30,000 miles a year. Almost 90% on Texas highways. 77 MPH in a 70 zone for 4 hours saves me a half hour. I change lanes often, moving in to the passing lane and back out when not passing. And, my favorite, is between Waco and San Antonio, on 35, I am in the RIGHT lane passing all the people in the left lane. Moral, I am as politely as possible , the guy zipping through traffic.

Does this technology lull you in to sleep and make you drive 68 behind the grandma , vibrate and alert the hell out of you when you change lanes without using your turn signals and just irritate the hell out of a person who is in a hurry?

You still have to pay attention. Coming up on a slower car you pass if it's clear or the car slows down to match the speed of the car in front. Even stops for stopped traffic and will resume if less than 3 seconds. Just hit RES after that. IT WILL NOT STOP FOR A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. Lane centering is cool, but I find I can drive a straighter line. It is good for if we have the dumb desire to fiddle with something and not pay attention. Just my opinion.
