Do you see a problem here? You where going 203.mph in REVERSE.
That can definitely hurt the truck,

Bad memory bit, bad math in an embedded calc routine ( happened to a plane in the Airforce, flipped upside down crossing the equator on autopilot )

Yeah that to me along with the U1011 and U1028 codes point to a pinched/ damaged wire or bad/broken sensor. It also could be a ford software issue, bad ground or overheating ecu/electronics. Definitely seems hybrid specific and likely impacted by Ford's software updates.

This may be way off, but came to my mind after reading through the printouts of errors that FORScan produced. These trucks (and most other modern vehicles) have multiple computer systems that communicate to each other. Looks like a major breakdown in communication is happening between at least a couple of systems. Maybe a loose or faulty connector somewhere? I have also seen online where a truck (in this case a 2022 Doge Ram 1500) would run for approx 20 min and then go into limp mode and pretty much disable the truck. Wait a period of time and the truck would start up and run fine, for another 20 min then do the same thing. Through days of troubleshooting the mechanic discovered there was a faulty connector between the BCM and ECU. This particular connector had a tiny resister for each pin in the plug. After 20 minutes the resister on one of the pins in the plug from the BCM was overheating and malfunctioning. The faulty resister was causing "data" not to be transferred on that one wire. That's all it took to disable the entire vehicle after 20 minutes of driving. Have no idea if any of the connectors in the Maverick have resisters?? Just thinking outside the box. If anything it appears that the recall update for the BCM is affecting hybrids way more and possibly corrupting data that the different systems use to communicate.
Does anyone know if any or what connectors need to be disconnected to perform these recalls? Maybe one of the connectors is a real pain to get apart or reach? Or maybe there are several connectors and they half assed putting them together.

They could perform the recall correctly but maybe get in a rush (or get interrupted)and leave something loose. Just a guess on what is happening...

Nothing should be disconnected for these recalls. The DLC/OBD2 connection is used for the reprogramming.

The issue was in the software itself.

Late Match is when Ford resolved the issue.

For 23E09, this is the note for dealers: 22-Mar-2024 Concerns with this FSA have been resolved and dealers should perform this FSA without delay.

And what if OP has this update already? Many hybrid owners seem to be having problems after that last update specifically.

After late March? So far I haven't seen anyone claiming to have issues after that update.

I had 23E09 done in mid-January. I haven't had problems, and haven't heard of anyone having problems w/ recalls completed that that early either. Most people who have had problems seem to have had the recall done in Feb or early March.

If someone does have a problem after that recall, the dealer should check and see if there are newer software updates. If there are none, then the dealer should contact Ford.

I do not have a hybrid so I really do not know! Thanks for the information. I hope they have it all figured out with that latest update. I did see a different post that had similar (not the exact same) DTCs as the OP did and they had an ambient temp sensor that was broken with damaged wiring!

Hope it's software, cheap and easy fix, once solved. Getting into a service bay is a whole lot more challenging. Well for us.

I had sw updates done in early March. So far, no problems. KNOCK WOOD.

Seems strange that some people have issues, while others haven't.

Very good original post. I’ve just experienced this (limp mode) issue and if this reoccurs I believe that Ford Motors should cover the expense to repair the vehicle. Since this is a program issue and occurs with normal driving and it’s a Ford “program” problem.

It is strange. I don't think we'll ever be able to collect enough info here to determine what the cause of the issues are.

I hope yours stays trouble free!!

Great information on this issue, thanks for posting it!

It would be nice to see Ford reach out to those that got the problematic code and have it replaced prior to having the vehicle fail, especially since it creates a safety issue for the owners affected.

23E09 on mine in October '23 and no concerns since.

Cheers.

You're welcome, I try to help when I can!

I agree. I suspect that there will be some sort of FSA issued for VINs that had the recall done within a certain date range, but that takes time to figure out (and I'm sure there are legal issues w/ NHTSA that also come into play before FSAs/recalls are announced as well!)

If the update does not successfully complete the. It needs to be reapplied. The tech most likely needs to put a 13+volt power supply onto truck while performing update.
